spinoff to cars: Is there a car, not suv or minvan, that would fit three car seats/toddler seats? Just curious.

My point was that if you have 3 sets (6 total clips, one pair each for 3 seats), you still may not be able to have 3 seats in the back seat. I have 6 clips in my back seat, but the owner's manual says I cannot have 3 seats in the car.
what if you just use the seat belts, not the latch system.
The rules for the LATCH system are different than the seatbelt rules in each car. My car doesn't allow 3 seats no matter how they are attached. Some cars will probably allow 3 seats with the seatbelts, but not the LATCH.
What kind of car do you have?
PT Cruiser. Definitely way to small to even attempt 3 car seats. There is about a foot, maybe less, between DC's seats.
Actually from what I've read, 3 are allowed in that car. Does it specifically say in your manual that it's not? There is a lot of information over on the carseat forums and a few have managed to put 3 in. Probably not seats as wide as a Britax or some of the other wider ones out there.

That's what my manual said... I'm sure I could manage to fit 3 smaller ones (I have Boulevards), but just because I CAN doesn't mean I SHOULD.
I can double-check over the weekend, but I'm pretty sure that's what it said. I haven't read that section in a few years, so it's possible I'm remembering incorrectly.

Well, if someone needs to put three in then they have no choice you know? I doubt it's any less safe than 2 if they are all in properly. Lots of people on the carseat boards safely put 3 carseats in and have them inspected by a tech
