Spinoff to cutting back on milk at 1 year...

What do they drink instead?

Logan really doesn't like anything but milk and I don't want him to dehyrdate.

Right now he still gets his 8 oz bottle in the morning when he wakes.

He gets sent to daycare with two 8 oz bottles - he gets them around 9:30 and one around 2:30.

Then he gets a sippy with water for dinner (usually it just winds up all over the high chair tray).

And one 8 oz bottle before bed.


What would you recommend I cut out?? The daycare bottles? And just send water or juice instead?

I would cut out the daycare ones. Def send it in water and if you want some juice.

Or maybe you could cut the ounces he gets at each time...4oz in the am, two 4 ounces during daycare and 4oz before bed. Then he can drink water or watered down juice.

You can cut out the bottle like you said. But I probably would look to reduce the amount per bottle first if you think taking one completey away would be hard. Matthew has 4 bottles like logan, around the same times. The morning and night are 6 oz and two at daycare are 4. Then he gets a sippy cup of water for the afternoon.

Noah gets two 8 oz milk bottles a day, sometimes he finishes them, sometimes he doesnt.

One in the AM when he wakes and one at night before bed.

He Drinks juice and water during the day.

Water in a bottle I bring if we are running around b/c it comforts him.

At home its in a sippy. He gets water or juice with each meal and about 1 more time a day. 5 oz sippies.

I use Gerber apple juice and water it down or I give him "first juice" cause it has a lto of vitamins.

He likes water just as well though.

Consistency is what he will need to like it.

I am goign to ask my daycare provider to only give him like one bottle at daycare. So it will go like this:

8:30am: 7 oz milk

2:00pm: 6 oz milk

8:00pm: bedtime 6-7oz milk


I will try not to exceed 20ounces of milk per day. The reccommended is 16oz though.

Lucas gets 4 oz of milk in a sippy in the morning (doesn't always drink all of it)

7oz of diluted apple juice (2oz juice/5oz water) in sippy cup at 10am with snack. He can keep it with him all day until he finishes.

6oz milk at 2pm with snack in sippy cup.

5oz diluted prune juice or water until I pick him up.

6oz milk in a bottle for bed (moving to sippy in another month)


ETA: he gets the rest of his dairy/calcium in the form of cheese and yogurt each day.

DD drinks water when she's not having milk. Lately she just chucks the sippy with the milk in it....I think it's too "heavy" for her sometimes.

I give Mollie milk with breakfast and dinner. She gets a sippy cup with watered down juice for daycare...if she finishes the cup at daycare, they will fill it up again with water only.

Is he taking bottles before/after meals or with them?
