Spinoff to Formula Allergy
If your DC was allergic to formula, what did you switch to?
We are currently giving DS Similac Advance (that's what they gave us in the hospital) but I think he is allergic.
How do you know which formula to switch to?
I've seen posts on Alimentum, Sensitive and Soy.
I put a call into the Pediatrician but her office is closed today.
Any suggestions in the meantime?
TIA!!

Re: Spinoff to Formula Allergy
My youngest has/had an allergy Her symptoms- Constant crankiness/irritible Stomach gurgled like mad Screamed for no reason and inconsolable Hives on neck, ears, face and body Swollen eyes and mouth Very congested all the time Mucousy very loose frequent poops Blood in stool VEry foul smelling poo Projectile Vomiting
We started with Similac advance in hospital, then under advice of PED we went to Alimentum and after they tested her stool for blood, that didn't work, the blood in her stool came back. Then we went onto Prescription Neocate. The neocate cleared everything up.
Does your DC have any of those symptoms that you would think DC is allergic to formula? SOrry i missed your last post before the spinoff
Personally, special formulas are much more $$$$ then reg ones, i'd wait to talk to PED tomorrow before switching, he/she can always give you samples to try if they think DC isn't tolerating it so you don't have to spend $$$$ on pricey formula. That's what i would do.

Re: Spinoff to Formula Allergy
For me, I started on Similac Advance, switched to Enfamil Lacto Free (DD HATED IT) and then switched to Soy.
The soy made things SOOO MUCH WORSE!! Because DD was more allergic to the soy than she was to the milk. It's common that if a child has an allergy to milk they're also allergic to soy. So we're on Alimentum now. It's not perfect but it's a lot better. DD still gets a rash on her chest and excema on her face but she's not fussy/cranky or in pain anymore.
