spinoff to garage conversion

ok, so the house DH and I are buying has a very large 2 part garage- prob enough to fit 4 cars in. Problem is, the garage is in the way back of the backyard and the previous owners removed the driveway that went through the backyard so they can have more yard. We liked the fact that the yard was so large and there is still a driveway in the front of the house to park a car, so no big deal to us.

But, down the line we have dreams of putting in a pool and converting the garage to a pool house. Do you think this would decrease the value? we also have an unfinished basement in the house and a shed in the backyard for storage.
Do you think we would have to add a small one car garage to the side of the house to make up for the fact that the backyard garage would not be used for storage?

Can you convert part of the garage to make it a pool house and keep the other part as a one car garage?
