and yea....Venus is a goddess
but the interpretation of what she looks like is based on what the avg woman looked like back then
IMO ...i prefer a healthy look
Venus isn't the average woman - she's the ideal woman of the time

Re: Spinoff to model thread...is thinner more beautiful? fixed pic
I do think thinner is more beautiful but I recognize that I have a problem with that.
A perfect example was my boyfriend in college showed me a pictures of his 9 year old sister who passed away. One was of her at his football game. The other of her in her pajamas. I said "Oh she's cute to the football one." (which I didn't think she was) and to the pjs one I said "She is adorable here." (which I thought she looked MUCH better). He held the pj one & said "she died a week later from leukemia."
That was the first time I realized how screwed up my sense of beauty was.

I agree to a degree. I am pretty thin, I'd like to be thinner. I was thinner once - I was doing Body for Life and I was really in shape, it's frustrating now to look at clothes that I wore then and not be able to fit in them.
But I do think it's encouraging to look at the women who have really stood out over the past decades - they're usually not stick-thin models, and often they're unusual shapes. A few examples:
Marilyn Monroe Princess Di Oprah Winfrey

Yeah thinner is more beautiful....why do you think Americans spend billions on dieting every year....just for the hell of it?

i personally don't think bones is beautiful
i don't think i know ANYONE who actually thinks it is..
aside from those with body dysmorphic disorder...
what i do think is a HEALTHY fit body is stunning and the best kind to have
heavier IMO isn't better... Curves are nice...
BUT the interpretation of Venus in that pic...
seems like a OLD, Chunky, out of shape woman....and back in the day they DIED at like age 40...
HEALTHY people IMO should be of the utmost importance now a days...
i agree. i am very weight conscious and feel that in re: to my own body, thinner (fit) is better. while some might be content w/ being "curvy" and "plumb" (as i feel venus is), i am not.
