Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I know some people who have a boy want a girl next. And vice versa.
I was that person before I had Jack. Now, I honestly don't care if I have another boy - just as long as the baby is healthy.
The dilemma we are facing is that DH wants his little girl (and I think I really want one also) BUT - I do really want a brother for Jack.
Do I really want to have three kids? I feel like living on LI is just so expensive and I want to be able to do for my kids everything my parents have done for me.
I am basically just ranting right now - and curious to see everyone's thoughts.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I'd always wanted one of each. But now that I have DD and I have a closer relationship with my own sister, I really want a sister for Marron. I just think she'll be closer to a sister than she could ever be to a brother (i.e. sharing experieces and stories with one another, talking about boys together, etc. and having the same issues with their mother ).

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
Well, of course, the health of the baby is always the most important concern...
but I really did want a girl, then I really wanted another girl I sometimes can't believe that it happened that way!
Like you, I wanted a same-sex sibling for my DD, also I had a sister, lastly, neither DH nor I came from mixed-gender families; he has 2 brothers and I have a sister, so we have no experience with the brother/sister dynamic. Oh, and I find the penis thing really scary!
Now, if and when we have a 3rd, I truly, truly do not care. 3 girls would be awesome, but sometimes I look out my window and imagine my teenage son playing basketball with his friends in the driveway.

We aren't finding out the sex of this baby, and we didn't for my 1st. I don't care what the sex is as long as my baby is healthy, thats all that matters!

So funny - see that's why I want Jack to have a brother. Someone he can play football with -- and go out with once they are older (and look out for each other)
BUT
I feel like I NEED a girl bc mostly all boys that I know leave their moms and go with their wives family My husband included.

Obviously healthy baby is first and foremost, but after that...
I always thought I wanted one of each but now that I have a girl and am having another one, I'm sooo excited that Syd will have a sister...

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I didn't care with #1 and don't care next time around either. It's one of these things..meaing i'd LOVE for Johnny to have a baby brother a girl would be so nice as well.
I always thought 2 boys followed by a girl sounds perfect. But if i had 3 boys that would be fine by me as well!

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I always wanted a boy first - then we were told we were having a girl and I fell in love with the idea of her - only to find out that she was really a he.
I love my little boy and honestly don't really care what the sex of the next baby is as long as he/she is healthy.
The thought in my head goes like this: I do think that another boy would be great for Lucas - plus I am learning how to be a mom to a boy so another would be easier...but at the same time a little girl would bring a whole new world of joy.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I don't think I'm having any more children because in addition to DS my husband has two more boys, which makes THREE BOYS for us!!
If I did have another child, I wouldn't care AT ALL what gender it was as long as the baby was healthy and happy. There are wonderful things about any sibling relationship whether it be brother/brother, sister/sister, brother/sister.
With that said, I know my husband would have liked to have a girl after having the two boys, but he isn't dissapointed at all. How can you be when you are blessed with a healthy happy baby???
Just keep in mind that if you have another boy and go for number #3 in the hopes of having a girl, there is a very good possibility you will get boy #3!

That's a good point - and I don't mind that really....at least one of those boys would have to be a mama's boy - right?

I wanted sisters or brothers, not brother-sister. In the end, I got them & couldn't be happier.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
If I have my choice I want another girl so that Sydney can have a sister to grow up with. DH wants a boy. Of course all that really matters is that he or she is healthy.

Again, health is the most important. I always wanted two boys and my dream came true. They are 15 months apart.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
Of course I would want it to be healthy...that's number 1.
I really don't care. All my friends who have girls tell me there is nothing like having a daughter. Daughters will always come back to their moms. I guess I would like a girl so I could have one and one. But if I'm given a boy, then I would be equally excited for Jared to have a best friend for life.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I am torn but also happy to have my little girl. I really wanted a daughter. DH always thought he really wanted a son until we had her. Now we both want two girls but would be thrilled to have a son as well.
I wish I was younger so we could have 3 kids but I really just hope the next one is healthy too. At that point I will be stopping.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I am quite desperate for a girl next, so in order to have a girl, I am going to eat only pink foods before conceiving.
I love boys and wouldn't mind another boy, but you know the old saying...A son is a son until he finds a wife, a daughter is a daughter for the rest of your life!!
Wish me luck!

I wanted a girl, and got one. If/when we have another, I don't care. I'll be happy with one of each, but I'd be happy if DD has a sister because I always wanted a sister myself.

I really didn't care. 2 girls would have been nice, but it's nice having one of each too. When the time comes I don't have a preference for the 3rd one either.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I honestly don't care if I have a or next. I just want a healthy baby. Of course DH always says "Ok, I know you want a healthy baby and of course I do too that's very important.... but, don't you want a girl next?".... I truly, truly, don't care. I care and worry so much about the health.

Re: Spinoff to my own post - Do you care what your second child is
I always wanted same sex...3 boys or 3 girls. So another boy would be great, but so would a girl. I really can't see myself with a girl, it would be an exciting delivery room moment.
