Spinoff to PT - there is nothing worse then taking a kid in a public restroom.

Nothing worse IMO.

Jack has to take off a shoe and a pant leg. The kid touches everything. I'm down on the ground.

It's a horrible horrible experience!

Re: Spinoff to PT - there is nothing worse then taking a kid in a public restroom.

I am seriously traumatized every time I take him out.

I have to get on one knee. Take off his shoe and pant leg. Then he does his business, is now touching everything - and then touching me, touching my face. I want to puke Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can guarantee that anyone in the stall next to me thinks I'm an abusive mom "Don't touch that! Don't touch me!"

it's totally gross! And I don't even need to take off any of his clothing. But you're right between him touching everything in sight and me having to kneel on a disgusting floor because just bending is no longer an option I am traumatized each time.

Oh man-- I have been dreading this stage of potty training since before I even had a kid! I haven't even started anything, but I know I will have major issues with this!

I personally have nightmares about dirty public restrooms-- probably when I need to pee while sleeping, I go looking from bathroom to bathroom and can't find anything clean!!

Don't people use those travel pottys that fold up?

My one son like to be completely naked when he is pooping, so when he tells me he has to poop when we are out I dread it!

I kept a potty in the car but Jack was wayyy too big for it, so I knew he would be too big for one of those fold up ones.

It's really terrible, I'm not gonna lie Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can't even begin to explain our issues.

he needs to be squatting on toilet.
this means, shoes off, pants and underwear off. line toilet so his feet aren't touching seat.

Last month at the mall, restroom was a madhouse. I had side by side double, could not fit.
Had to hold jessie with one arm while struggling with this nut and his routine.

Re: Spinoff to PT - there is nothing worse then taking a kid in a public restroom.

Thankfully DS has never had to go #2 while out but peeing for a boy is easy, pull down their pants and undies down to their knees and make them stand on the seat and hold their back to you and try to go between his legs to pull the pants back so there isnt any "dripping action". And I just keep saying over and over not to touch anything!

For a girl... no idea! Chat Icon

When I have to go in public, I play Simon Says w/ DS so he doesn't touch anything. Or, I'll tell him hands on head before we even walk into the bathroom.
He has to do hands on head when the oven is open so he doesn't get burned so he was used to it.

I agree! Luckily DS learned to pee standing up about 2 weeks after potty training...now I feel so blessed to have a boy...public bathrooms arent that scary anymore!!!

ETA I bought one of those portable potty seats when we first PT DS. It was a pain but made the whole thing much easier as it went on the seat and even had handles for DS to hold while he sat!

DS likes to try to pee hard enough to make alot of bubbles then he gets one square of tp to try and cover them up. Maybe try that and see if he wants to stand?
