Taking Baby Out In Public?

How many weeks old was your child before you took him/her out in public? Did you have to wait until after they got their two month shots before taking them with you to the store or a restaurant?

I took him food shopping with me two days after he came home from the hospital. BRU and pics at KK when he was 2 or 3 weeks old, pics with Santa at a month old. We went on walks almost every day (providing it wasn't too cold, he was born in Nov.)

I say you can't be a prisoner, and it's good to get out now for your own sanity. Plus, the fresh air makes baby TIRED Just put DC in the carriage, and put a blanket or pull up the canopy and if people get too close, back up and tell them you have a newborn.

I would get out of the house as soon as I felt up to. My friend just came to playgroup this week with her 9 day old little girl. It depends on how you feel about it.

I was out shopping and doing regular stuff when my son was 2 weeks old. I was desperate to get back to normal.

I just brought my dd for 2month shots on monday, and our Peds wants us to wait until 3-4 months, b/c its winter, and alot more flu/colds out in public. She says at her age it will be very difficult for her to get over getting sick. Im going to try and convince my DH -if we can take her out just to get quick santa pics and her ornament this week. Plus i have Kk apt friday, i hope he lets me take her.

Depends on what you mean about public

DD was a week old when we brought her to other family members houses.

Malls and Supermarkets - not until after her shots.

Out for walks - right away

2 months. Its also Flu season now, so I would be careful.

1st baby it took me at least 7 weeks to leave the house

2nd baby it was all of 2 days

went food shopping when she was 1 week old, she was born in march and it was GORGEOUS out here in Charlotte

I took my son for walks right away

My doctor said 6-8 for very public places. I took him to a restaurant at 6 weeks for a family party.

We took DD out when she was two weeks old (that's when I felt up to it). We started going for walks and restaurants during non-busy hours.

We started going to more places when she was 5 weeks but I kept the hood up on her carseat.

I took DS for walks immediately, I went back to work PT after 3 weeks so he went to either my mom's of MILs, and his first family function was about 4 weeks. We started taking him out to malls and other public places at 5-6 weeks.

DD#1 I don't remember, but it was less than a month--we went out for walks by 6 days old. DD#2 went to Ground Round at 10 days old--you can tell we enjoy fine dining and a christening party at 12 days.

4 weeks - we have gone to the diner, CPK, BBB, BRU and a quick trip to the mall for pictures with Santa.

we took DD out for walks right away...waited a couple of weeks before taking her into stores. Now she comes everywhere with me - she is 2 months.

My DS is 5 weeks old and we have not been out much. He was 4 weeks early and was in the NICU for 6 days. We got warnings from 2 NICU doctors and our pediatrician who all said it is just not worth the risk, especially b/c we are in RSV season. At this point, I would feel okay about visiting other people in their homes but most people I know are not around during the day and don't spend much time at home. I would like to get out more, but we will have years to run around and do fun things after DS gets a little bit bigger and stronger!!!!!!!

we took him to a restaurant (that we knew would be fairly empty) after 10 day and have done things like that since about once a week. I put the plastic cover over my stroller and then I feel like he's in a little bubble.

He was out in the mall at 2 weeks. He was out among lots of people at a family party at 4 weeks. No way was I staying in for 8-10 weeks, I'd go nuts

I had cabin fever BAD so at the 5 week mark I took my DD out with me making sure no one touched her.. She was fine. I also had to take her to my sisters daughters christening and then the resturant at 7 weeks. again she was fine.
