Spinoff to RSVP thread..when you are hosting a party...

...and people RSVP via text. Do you respond to them?

I always do- letting them know I got their text and that my DD is so glad their child can make it or sorry you can't make it, but thanks for letting me know... etc

I responded via text to a party that DD was invited to and no response. Crickets. I started wondering if maybe i texted the wrong number so I double checked what I texted against the invite a few times and NOPE- that's the number.

But just crickets. I don't know, I find it odd. Did you get it? A simple ok or thanks would be fine but I just find it odd to not respond at all.

But maybe it's me because I am a stickler for texting people back/texting etiquette

Yes, always but I have had to text other moms multiple times before getting a response. DH insists they probably hate me now and think I’m a PITA but who doesn’t respond?!

Right? It takes 2 seconds to acknowledge it. I am so sick of hearing, well people are busy. Yeah, so the fuk am I, but who doesn't have time to respond with a word or 2? Please.
Just rude if you ask me.

And yes, I felt like texting back again saying- um, just making sure you got this because I didn't want you to think i didn't RSVP.

I usually assume it was received.
I don’t think the majority texts back...

I have always responded like... thanks, looking forward or sorry, he/she will be missed but enjoy whatever the reason is (unless due to a death) LOL
I have texted to RSVP before and have gotten no responses too. I think it's weird bc I wonder if they got it, but don't want to look crazy writing again.
I recently texted to a last min invite we got to someone having it at their house and it was small and family. I didn't even know them and DS was the only "friend." I had a legit excuse that we would be in the city, but thanks for the invite and I hope they have a great birthday.
She literally wrote back... Oh, I see.

I always respond and from what I recall I've always gotten a response when I RSVP. I would definitely be irked to not get any response too.

Yes- honestly this is the first time I didn't get one when I RSVPed.
That's why it made me Chat Icon a little

oh yeah- i always will text back at least a "thanks! see you there" or whatever. it takes 2 seconds and gets everybody on the same page LOL
BUT i will say i'm guilty of reading a text when i'm busying doing something else, and then responding back in my head HAHA so i think that happens a lot, too. if the other parent read your text while they were at work or whatever, they could just have gotten busy and thought the wrote back.... but yeah i usually will text them a couple days later if i don't hear back "Just making sure you got my RSVP..." just to make sure they have my son in the headcount and everything
