spinoff to straw sippy cup

whats the benefit of giving them a straw sippy cup rather than a soft spout...DD is 7.5 months old and using a soft spout sippy cup, should I switch her over to a straw one?

Re: spinoff to straw sippy cup

my DD at first couldn't figure out she needed to tip the cup to drink from it. (she never drank from a bottle) So the straw was so easy for her to learn.

Re: spinoff to straw sippy cup

I read somewhere that straws are better for speech, and that spout cups can cause a lisp... but don't quote me on that!
Landon uses both types of cups, spout for milk and straw for water.

All the Speech therapist I work with recommend the straw cups to help with speech and I also read sippy cups can sometimes lead to tooth decay
