Transitioning to the sippy cup with the spillproof straw
Jack had absolutely no issues transitioning from the bottle to a sippy. I went and got the munchkin sippy with the straw because you can see his teeth being affected by the sippy. I give it to him and he's clueless. He keeps trying to bite the straw and just throws the cup down when he can't figure out how to get the water out.
I also tried giving him a juice box with a straw and he couldn't get that either. I had to keep giving little squeezes so he would get juice. Yesterday I gave him a regular cup with a small amount of water and helped him take little sips....after a while, I let go and of course he dumps the whole thing down his mouth and spills it all down his shirt
Anyone have a trick to this. I don't know how to teach him to learn to s uck from a straw....HELP

Re: Transitioning to the sippy cup with the spillproof straw
maybe if you start by giving him a regular straw and bringing liquid into it, and then plugging the top with your finger, and feeding him the liquid slowly that way...
then let him have it more and more slowly - maybe he'll try to suck it out, and learn a straw that way?
just an idea...

We tried those Take and Toss cups, DD went from Bottle to those no issues. Try them and see if they work.

Re: Transitioning to the sippy cup with the spillproof straw
I found the spillproof straw cups hard to learn on because I feel you need to suck a little harder than a regular cup. I taught DD with a regular straw by demonstrating first by making an exaggerated sucking face then I let her give it a shot. It took a lot of back and forth before she finally got it but now she's an expert!

Michael is over 2 years old and I am still having a hard time getting him to take a cup with a straw.
