Never. DD only ever really took to the straw ones, and now at 2 years old, still uses the straw ones.

DD never liked sippy cups - we went right to straw cups and she still uses them now at 2.5 yrs old

I tried to give DD the hard spout but she never liked them. So I just kept using the soft spout with handles until about two months ago when she was 17.5 months. I bought a milk shake for myself and DD wanted to try drinking it, through the straw, so I let her and she did it. So now was have straw sippy cups (the dora ones). Never look back!
