Spinoff to sublock post: help me keep my newborn protected this summer
Baby is due mid-June. Older DD was due at same time 3 years ago and I was able to successfully keep her out of the sun all summer (in the shade when we were outside, blankets over the carrier during walks, etc).
Now with this baby, I'll have DD to chase after outside too-- she won't be content just sitting in the shade. So how can I best protect baby? I don't want to use sunblock on such a little newborn (a little older would be a different story)....and I obviously will keep baby in the shade as much as humanly possible, only go outside at off-peak times (I'm still like this with my 3-year-old, I'm sun-protection neurotic )
But is there any gear I should buy to assist me? Extra shades for infant seat? Special blankets? Anything you can think of?

I used to use the Bjorn for walks with a hat on his giant head

My ped said they have UV protection type clothing. I am interested myself since it is already super sunny and hot down here!
