spinoff to that Mom leaving her child unattended
would it be against the law if you left an older child between 11 and 13 with your 2yr old?? I will admit there have been a few times that I have let my oldest dd watch dd so Ican run in and grab milk from 7-11(never would do it at a supermarket ) I can see my truck the entire time....alarm is engaged doors are locked. and dd has her cell and I have mine and it takes about 1-2 minutes

I am pretty sure that by law, a child over 11 can babysit so I think that would fall under that category.

no I leave my brother who is 15 in the car with my dd if I have to run in quickly to 7-11 or something, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

I think this is okay. I used to babysit young children at that age, though things have changed a bit. Still, I think it's legal.

I definitely feel its on a case by case basis with children 11 and older babysitting My DD is very responsible and she knows what to do if Baby is choking (I have seen her stick her finger down dds mouth when she was choking) I totally trust her and feel she is capable to babysit for a few minutes here and there BUT no longer than just a few minutes

Re: spinoff to that Mom leaving her child unattended
My mom used to leave me and my younger sister in the car with my older sister who was 11 when we were kids if she was just running into the store. I know times were different then, but if you have a mature 11 year old who knows what to do in an emergency, then it shouldn't be a problem.
