Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

How much did you gain during your pregnancy (if you don't mind sharing.) Are you BFing? Were there any "tricks" (aside from being to busy to eat?Chat Icon )

I am trying to get myself motivated and prepared mentally now so that when I give birth I am in the right frame of mind and don't just "forget" about working on getting back to me.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I have to say for my DD it took me the full nine months to lose the weight- if anything breastfeeding her kept the weight on. I didn't lose the final 10 until I weaned her. I gained 32 pds total when pregnant.

With DS, its been totally different. I lost all the baby weight already at 3 months pp, and am still losing. I work out now but also had more time to walk with DD and work out so that's the same I thinkChat Icon I gained 29 pds with him. BUT my belly is so saggy since he was such a big baby. If it doesn't get better over time, I will seriously pursue a tummy tuck.

I would give it time and not expect to see full results until the 9 months is up. Some people are really lucky, but I found most have it this way.Chat Icon

and don't freak out if you haven't lost the weight by 9 months PP either! i am still about 10-15 over my PP weight... i had to buy a whole new wardrobe. but the truth is i never tried hard to lose the weight thru diet or exercise because i am TTC again at 8 months PP.

if i was overweight i would try and lose the weight before TTC again but i'm not, so i didn't Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 35lbs and BF (now down to 1/day with my almost 16 month old)----I lost a good amount within the first 4-5 months, but I held onto a good 5-10lbs until I started weaning feedings, I think I could have dieted like crazy and my body would have still held onto that weight, so I tried not to stress too much about it Chat Icon

I gained 48 pounds, lost about 20 within the first 2 months.
Now I have 20 to go to be back to pre-pregnancy weight and I just started South Beach with DH yesterday to hopefully lose them.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 23lbs and lost it before my two week pp appointment. I had GD so I atribute that to the reason I only gained 23lbs. I couldn't eat ice cream every night Chat Icon

I gained about 45lbs with DD. I EBF'd for 16 months and after my 6 week PP checkup I started working my butt off.

Totally depends IMO on the person etc.

I gained 22 lbs with Noah in the last 5 weeks . I was down 30 lbs within 10-14 days after birth.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 50lbs with my son and 40lbs with my daughter. I EBF both of them for 14 months and was about 10 lbs UNDER my pre-pregnancy weight after weaning each. I never worked out.

I gained 35 pounds with DS and lost it in a little over a year. In my case it probably took longer due to thyroid issues and developing lupus (I was way too tired and achey to exercise for quite a few months after DS was born).

The thing that really helped was beginning my exercise regimen regularly again and eating healthier (this happened when DS started solids--I realized I needed to be a better model for him).

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself in the beginning--giving birth can take a lot out of you, and the sleep deprivation a newborn brings can make it really tough to stick to diet and fitness. You'll get back to yourself. Everyone is different, some women get there in a month or two, but I think it takes longer for most people I have spoken with. You'll get there though.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained over 60lbs with my DD. I lost a lot of weight right away but I BF'd and was one of the few that actually started to gain weight again because I was starving all day long. I am now 15 months PP and am 10lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight, thanks to weight watchers.

25-30lbs first pregnancy, I lost it pretty quickly- and then I got pregnant again.

Gained 12 lbs with my second pregnancy. I was about 8lbs lighter after I gave birth & continued to lose because I was nursing.

The biggest mistake I made was to continue to eat the same way as when I was nursing. I packed it on quickly.

A few years later, I joined WWers & did really well on it - however it fell to the wayside & I'm just getting back to it now.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 30lbs, but I lost 7 of it 2 days before delivery due to a stomach virus. At 6 weeks PP I have 2lb to go. Breastfeeding is all I've really done so far to lose the weight.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

DD#1
started at 117 lbs (my heaviest ever)
delivered at 141 lbs(gained 24)
6 week c/s check up 112
12 weeks pp 104lbs( EBF'd)

DD#2
started at 116 lbs
delivered at 148 lbs (gained 32)
DD was 9lbs 3ozChat Icon
6 week c/s check 122 lbs
12 weeks pp 108lbs (EBF'd)

Do not hate me but I did not work out but I am not a big eater, I just do not love food and I am very hyper and hardly ever sit. I even work on my feet as a hairdresser. I TOTALLY believe BFing helps but It is all about gentetics in my mind. I am 37 years old.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 25lbs and continue to BF (11+ months later). I lost all the weight (plus some) super quick - within the first couple of weeks...however my body was not the same. It still isn't.

That said, I am thin to begin with and have always had a hard time gaining & keeping on weight...so I can't say for certainty that the BF did it.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 13lbs, but I was on a strict GD diet, plus I was overweight to begin with, in addition to the added weight I put on going through IF treatments. By 3 weeks PP I was down 30lbs. I couldn't BF right away, but did BF and then pumped exclusively until DD was about 9 weeks old. I'm still sitting at 30lbs down at 15 weeks PP.

I started at about 115...went up to 164. At 13 months pp I still have about 20 lbs to lose. I honestly don't think I ever will...at least not until I go back to work. When I'm home I constantly shove my face with junk foodChat Icon

Oh yeah...I didn't breastfeed.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 42 lbs with DD. She weighed 9 lbs. I lost half at my 1 week c-section incision check. By her first B-day, I weighed a little less than pre-preg.

With DS, I think I gained 27. I lost the first 15 in a few weeks, then the rest over the past few months. When DS was 4 months (he is now 8 months), I got a Tummy Tuck with hernia and muscle repair along with a breast reduction. I had 5 lbs of just stretched skin taken off of my stomach. So, I am back to pre-preg weight, but still need to tune up my arms and legs.

I did not breast feed.

Re: Spinoff to Yeahbaby's post: OMG! For those that are so lucky . . .

I gained 47 lbs during my pregnancy. I started out at 139 and I was 186lbs. the day b4 I gave birth. I'm down to 150 now but I feel like I've been stuck at this number for about a month now.
I know if I ate better and got some exercise it would come off quicker, but I'm such a couch potato. I think the Bfing is helping but not as much as I expected.

I gained 20 pounds with Jacob and lost a lot of it before leaving the hospital. The rest came off within a week or 2.
