Spotting in First Trimester
I am determined not to go on google, so I am coming to you ladies for advise. I'm sorry in advance if this is TMI
I have been taking Progesterone (Endometrin) since we found out I was pregnant. On Sunday, when I went to go change my pad, i noticed that it was a bit more brown than normal, but I knew i was having discharge down there too so i didn't think much of it. Same Monday and all day Tuesday. Last night, before i took a shower, i went to the bathroom and when i wiped it was all a light pink color. I wiped again to make sure and the same. Before I went to bed, i went to the bathroom again and there was a nice bright, red spot on the tissue paper. This morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom, the tissue was clean but there was a very small blood clot in the toilet bowl. When I went to the RE this morning, I went to the bathroom again and nothing was on the tissue paper, but the same brownish-sludge was on the pad. Again, I am so sorry this is so TMI, but I saw the baby's heart beatr today for the first time and the little bean looks great. 150 hbpm. The RE said its not necessarily normal, but it is common for some women to experience this. I guess I am terrified because my friend also heart the heartbeat at 7 weeks and then in between she also had spotting and when she went back on her 8th week, there was no heart beat.
Any words of wisdom for those of you you have BTDT?

Re: Spotting in First Trimester
Honestly you never know, it could be nothing , it could just be old blood. it IS very common to spot in the first tri. I have also heard that some women spot more when on progesterone cream or suppositiries (nit sure if that's what you are using, I'm on shots) so it could just be the medicine mixed with little bit of old blood that you see in the toilet. I would just watch it and let the dr know if it gets worse, or if you start having cramps. Just try to take it easy and stay off your feet as much as you can maybe .

Spotting in First Trimester
i know it's near-impossible but try not to worry about it too much.
In the beginning, i had subchorionic hematoma (sounds worse than it is - it's basically just blood between the sac and uterus). Doctor told me that it'll either get absorbed by my body or expelled and it almost always go away on its own without causing issues. Maybe that's an explanation for the clot you found?

The RE told me the same thing, but she went looking around and didn't see anything, so i guess its not that. its just spotting for no good reason? i'm hoping its not an indicator of bad things to come

Re: Spotting in First Trimester
@ 10 WEEKS I woke up at 4am in the morning with blood and lots of fluid, my pants were actually wet and bloody. I went to the ER, they kept telling me that it was a theatened miscarriage bc I was still in the 1st trimester. I had some clots and now I am 28 weeks preggo with and everything is fine! Try not to worry, I was FREAKING OUT and it just made me so sick!

maybe you passed the entire clot so the RE wasn't able to see anything else?
i know people that have bled (A LOT) throughout their pregnancies and had very happy and healthy full-term babies.
think happy thoughts

Spotting in First Trimester
Hopefully everything is ok!! I had spotting at 6w2d; and again and 9w4d; and again at 10w6d! It's just a little when i wipe; the spotting at 6w had a small clot that freaked me out!! My OB just said more blood is flowing to the cervix; and for me it hasn't been anything serious. Baby is always do fine when they check; always a strong HB; and my cervix is closed. She just tells me nothing strenuous and to try not to strain during a bowel movement.

Spotting in First Trimester
I spotted a couple of times during the first trimester. My doctor assured me it was totally normal but of course I was a mess. I have a healthy 4.5 month old DS. The rest of my pregnancy was textbook so please try not to worry about it too much (and I do know it is easier said then done). If you have any questions feel free to FM me. I was always told spotting alone without cramps is a normal thing.

so was i, but since i'm on the progesterone, it causes cramping sometimes, randomly and it has me even more stressed out. so i don't know if i'm bleeding because i'm cramping or if the cramping in unrelated.
I haven't gotten to the point where I am seeing an OBGYN yet, so I don't know how my cervix is doing. I guess I'll find that out in the weeks ahead.

You and I are like the same person! I had spotting on Saturday night. It went away on Sunday but came back at 3am on Sunday night/Monday morning. I went to Dr G on Monday morning (didn't have an appt) and he told me that 90%(!!!) of his patients have spotting in early pregnancy. He was really reassuring. Did an u/s and we heard the hb again. He couldn't find the bleeding and said there was no blood near the baby or sac.
I'm confident that you are going to be ok. I'm not sure which dr you saw this morning, but I assume it wasn't Dr. G b/c he would make you feel better. As long as your progesterone numbers are still high, I think you're ok.
Did they call with your numbers yet?
When do you go back?

I was supposed to go in tomorrow to hear the heartbeat for the first time. with all the spotting i had during the week i got so nervous that i told DH i'm not waiting, i'm going in tomorrow morning. No, Dr. G wasn't in today so i saw Dr. Stein. She was nice, but i asked her after she finished checking me, is this normal? and she was like no, its not normal, but its common (which didn't really reassure me) and that she couldn't find any blood near the baby or the sac either and that sometimes, its unexplained but ok. DH says that when we go back next Thursday, we only wants to see Dr. G because he likes his manner better They already called me back with my numbers, my progesterone went back up to a 20, with my only taking the endometrin 1x a day and my HCG went up to 17,319. I was just so happy to see and hear the hb this morning, i never thought I would hear it and after Dr. Stein left, i started sobbing and poor DH couldn't figure out why. He kept asking me why I was crying and i cried harder and said i don't know!

Focus on the positives - you saw a hb and your numbers are great. Each good appointment is yet another step towards the end goal of a healthy baby. You saw a hb today - that's a huge pregnancy milestone!

I don't even know who Dr Stein is. If you're nervous, call and ask for Dr G to call you back. I've done that and he'll just get on the phone to reassure you.
But again, I think everything is FINE. Your beta is great. Are you still spotting?
Dr. G is in on Monday and Thursday mornings, so you'll definitely see him next week. Have you made an appt with your OB yet? I was actually released on Monday and was kind of sad to go, but Dr G said I could come in for an u/s if I ever feel the inking. I have my first appt with my OB on Monday. 5 days to go...feels like forever. But then after that I know I'll have to wait another 3-4 weeks!

No, I haven't spotted since this morning. So lets hope this keeps up. Did Dr. G actually tell you you could make an appointment with your OBGYN? I asked when I needed to come back and that's when they told me next week.

Re: Spotting in First Trimester
I spotted from week 5-10 every few days. Some days it was brown, some pink and twice it was red. I am now 31 weeks pregnant. They never knew where the spotting was coming from, but anytime it made me nervous which was usually once a week I went to get checked. I got used to the brown spotting but as soon as it was red or heavier I freaked and called the doctor. Seeing the heartbeat yesterday is a good sign! It can be normal. I would say try to relax but I know that won't happen! Good luck and pray for the best! Im sure everything will be ok

This for me exactly! I had almost constant spotting from 5-10 weeks, ranging in all colors and amounts (sometimes just on the tp, other times full clots). It made me a nervous wreck and being nervous and stressed actually caused me to have cramps. There was one day in particular that I was doubled over in pain, so I went to the ER that night and the second we heard the HB and saw the little bean, the cramps immediately went away!! As hard as it is, try not to stress, it only makes you feel worse. Good luck, I hope you continue to get good news!

Glad to hear you haven't spotted. I had the 2 incidences and nothing since then...so that it's stopped.
At my 5w appt I asked when I should schedule with my OB and Dr G said to call then. My OB wanted to see me at 8w, so Dr G said I could see him through 7w, which was this week. I'd call your OB if I were you. She/he will want your records from RMA and it takes 2 weeks for them to send it. Medical records is the ONLY part of RMA that sucked.

I will that the bleeding was just a fluke and that it has stopped for good for both of us. 2 weeks to get records? Oh man, i better get crack-a-lackin tomorrow and call my OBGYN

i spotted through till the third trimeseter. i freaked every time. It came and went during teh first trimester, and seemed to happen when i had stretching pains in the second. At 27 weeks, it happened again adn i spent 5 hours at winthrop. If the stretching is bad enough, i will spot a bit. I am now 36 weeks, adn looking forward to welcoming my little one soon. Good luck adn try not to freak. I totally get how scary it is.. if you want feel free to fm me.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this throughout your whole pregnancy! But very happy that your is healthy even though you did spot.
Unfortunately for me, the spotting continues. It doesn't leak out or anything, but every time i wipe there is something there. its so nervewracking. i keep thinking about my friend who miscarried because she went through the same thing, but you ladies give me hope that i can have a healthy pregnancy even with the spotting.

two things to remember - many pregnancies have spotting (i did from weeks 7-9), actually i recently read that something like 20% of healthy pregnancies can have first trimester spotting. a majority of pregnancies with spotting do not result in miscarriage. yes, some do, but a majority do not.
if this was to result in miscarriage there is absolutely nothing you can do. worrying about it wont help anything. it will just make you crazy. you are pregnant and you saw a heartbeat. focus on that and not on the one person you know that miscarried after some light spotting. being super stressed out really does nothing good for your body so really, you have to try to focus on either more positive or more distracting things.
