SPR - my dad needs some prayers - update in 1st post
For the past 3 weeks my dad has been getting these horrifying, debilitating headaches lasting up to 10 or 11 hours.
We brought him to the ER earlier this week and it was awful, we got nowhere. 5 hours with him dying of pain and anything they gave him didn't help. His cat scan showed nothing (thank g-d).
We managed to get him to a neurologist and my father suffers from "cluster headaches" also known as suicide headaches. The pain is the worst pain known to man, worse than natural childbirth (which I can attest to is pretty darn awful) or amputation without drugs. There is no cure for these. They can last for months, weeks and just go away and go into remission. There is no cure for them.
I made the mistake of researching on Youtube to see if there was any info or any other method of helping him and I'm a mess. What these souls go through is torture and I'm a disaster looking at these men knowing as of right now my father is on HOUR 11 of his headache and my mom just took him to the ER again. Its awful seeing my dad in so much pain - tears your heart out.
So, if you guys could just spare some prayers that these go away and my dad could get better I'd appreciate it.
**UPDATE** Wow - girls. I cannot thank you all enough for the FM's and support. I"m so touched - thank you.
My dad went for an MRI today - took them an hour and 45 minutes. The doctor called and managed to get us in earlier than Thursday b/c the headache he had when I posted this thread lasted for almost 15 hours. Obviously, he was a bit concerned that it had lasted so long and that we're going on week 4 of the headaches.
Last night he managed to get some sleep. It was the first night in over 3 weeks that he and my mom got some very much needed rest.
I spent the night online looking around - so much info out there on them and thank you to all for your suggestions. I sent them over to my father along with some things I saw online that he's going to try when the next headache arrives which so far *knock wood* its 12:15 and I haven't heard from my mom. They usually begin around 11/12 at night. My mom said I don't need to go over there but I just can't sit back and do nothing. I know there isn't anything I can do but at least I feel better supporting my mom b/c its taking a toll on her as well. Its truly horrid seeing my dad like this and knowing I can't do anything but being there is important to me b/c if roles were reversed they'd do the same.
We're all past the point of exhaustion but hoping that after the doctor's appointment we can get pointed into the right direction and get some more ideas and some meds to help my father not suffer as badly.
Thanks again girls - I really think that your thoughts helped him not have a headache last night

I've been reading on youtube - no cure. These poor people have tried everything.
It seems my father is having multiple attacks hence them lasting for now 11 hours. This one he's having now is by far the worst one. They are getting worse and longer in duration.
Its awful - my parents (and I) haven't slept at all. I'm up at night a wreck b/c I keep calling my parents house to see if I can do anything. My mom is up taking care of my father.

Re: SPR - my dad needs some prayers
I know it's going to sound weird, but have your dad try ice packs on the area of the head that hurts. I had to have brain surgery for a brain condition, and the condition caused horrible cluster type headaches. The only thing that helped for me was putting ice packs on the area. It sort of numbed the area, as well as slowed the blood flow which caused the pounding. Please FM me if you need anything.

I agree, although where near the pain that your dad is experiencing, this has worked on me for my debilitating migraines and when I had my kidney infection pain.
