as soon as I had a job. I hated having to sign my name to my moms gifts. So I would say 14 or so.

Re: SPR: When did you stop mooching off your parent's gifts?

When I was in elementary or high school, with the exception of wedding gifts (that was probably after college).

My mom made us buy our aunts and uncles Christmas gifts at a young age. We were the only grandchildren for a long time on her side of the family and she would tell us that they were very good to us and that we were to get them something, even if it only cost a dollar or two, because it was the thought that counts. I also started buying my younger cousins gifts when I was in high school.

I see her hand in how my siblings and I raise our children now. My 8 year old and 12 year old nephews both bought my DS their own Christmas gifts this year. It was adorable. Chat Icon

We are very close, we were brought up as a famlily of 5, instead of my sister and I and my cousins.
