Sprinkle Question
So here's the thing. I'm having baby #3 with the last 2 being 13 months apart. And they are all girls. My MIL wanted to throw a sprinkle, and while i really didn't want one, I didn't say no so i could just let her feel like she was involved.
Well......as i get phone calls about how the invitation was worded asking for money and gift cards and how tacky it sounds ...i am sooo regretting not telling her that i didn't want it in the first place.

Re: Sprinkle Question
I dont think its tacky that you are having a sprinkle- but we dont do that in my circle- I just dont see a polite way to only ask for gift cards/money- maybe just register for diapers, formula and any extra clothes you might need?

I was ok with the sprinkle....until i saw how they worded the invite
But I guess at this point i just have to suck it up and deal with it....it is family....and thankfully the people who have told me about how tacky the wording sounds know me and know that it wasn't my idea. Even though i do feel embarrassed when i read how she worded it.

Re: Sprinkle Question
I cant say tacky although I kind of voted already. My bad!
Im getting a sprinkle...pretty much since its twins and boys. So im onboard with having them. My DD is 3.
If it was girls, I wouldnt of had one.
and I guess like you said, it dosent help how they worded the invite.
Sorry.

Re: Sprinkle Question
I had a sprinkle because I am having a this time. My DD is 2.5 I wouldn't have had one if I was having another girl. That being said I think all babies should be celebrated

Re: Sprinkle Question
Your post sounds more like a vent. You were trying to be nice to your MIL and now you feel embarrassed for how she handled the invites. Don't worry about because you have no control over what was said and it is done now.
I understand when people say its tacky but IMO I think thats dumb.
People like to get gifts for others plain and simple. They can follow the little note on the invite or not. IMO I think registries are tacky then. Just because someone Needs/Wants certain items it doesn't mean the guest has to buy from the registry. You can even register for a g/c.
I think it is more tacky when people complain that their guests didn't get what is on their registry.

Re: Sprinkle Question
I am 100% for sprinkles, whether it is your 2 or 7th child...BUT, that said, I would never ask for just cash or gift cards
