standing in the crib, screaming - HELP!
i think we've got a case of separation anxiety on our hands here, folks. DS won't go to bed lately, when i put him down he gets up, screaming at the top of his lungs, stands fully erect against the crib bars and tries to escape!
when i tried to let him cry a little he tripped over his sleep sack and fell, almost hitting his head on the crib so i went right in there and picked him up. it took me 4 tries to get him down to sleep, and i had to rock him until he was dead asleep so i could put him down and run out without him seeing me.
how do you handle this? if he is just standing there screaming, do i let him?? what if he falls?? CIO was so much easier before he was "aware!"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was sick recently, and that illness definitely added fuel to the fire, bc he got a LOT of extra overnight cuddles.
does anyone have a strategy for this?

Re: standing in the crib, screaming - HELP!
This sounds pretty normal to me, especially since everyone I know, including myself, went through it when DC started to stand. When the novalty wore off, he was back to his normal routine and would go right to sleep. Of course, we still have our days, but now I know he's playing me so I let him cry until he is really crying hard and I know there's no end in sight. then I'll rock him a little more.
Sorry I don't have better advice.
