starting cereal question for bf moms

I currently BF and we got the ok yesterday to start ds on cereal.. He is only 4 months old now but thinking of starting to wean him at 6 months.. Dr. recommended mixing formula with the cereal now so that he starts to get the taste. Did any BF mom mix the cereal with formula or did you use BM or water?

ETA: If you were't planning on weaning, when you started to give cereal what did you mix it with, formula, BM, water?

i initially mixed with BM but then i switched to formula- so only a few days - also i started with avacado and went back to cereal - so he had a flavor first - and mixed cereal and avacado

also i started at 6 months so my little guy did not spit much out he was ready for food - we went to formula as i started pumping lss around 8 months

also down the line around 9 months i started mixing the cereal with the pourable yougart

I EBF and my son is 7.5 months. I'm not planning on weaning anytime soon. We started oatmeal at 4 months and always used BM. My friend, whose daughter is the same age, recently started mixing in formula because she is planning to wean soon.

We started DD on cereal at 4 months too and she was EBF. We mixed BM in the cereal for a while and when we tried to mix it with formula once we started supplementing at 5 months she refused to eat it! It took a while of mixing with a little BM and a little formula to get her to eat it mixed with just formula. So, my advice is to mix with formula now if you're planning to wean.
