Starting food - a question... (added another question in OP)
I know that when you start food, you have to feed it to them for three days to rule out any allergy. Would you feed them like peas for "breakfast" and then again for "dinner" with the usual bottles for 3 days straight and then move on to a new food? So between all the fruits and veggies, they are just *trying* things for like a month and a half?
Explain it to me like I'm a child
edit - thank you to those who have answered so far! We know that he's allergic (or has a sensitivity to) to oatmeal, rice and barley. I'm assuming then that we would just give him the fruits and veggies straight up? We have a ped appointment next week, but I just want a heads up and want to start thinking about everything now because I have nothing else in my life to obsess over.

Re: Starting food - a question...
What I do is for ex. mix in peaches with oatmeal in the AM for 3 straight days and then at night do a jar of Peas for 3 straight days. That's how we roll!

this is correct.
eta: think about it - if the baby has a reaction at night, it COULD be whatever you fed him for breakfast or dinner, you would have no way of knowing. that's why the ped says to do only 1 food for 2-3 days straight.

Re: Starting food - a question...
After getting DS used to oatmeal, we started with applesauce. He got oatmeal and applesauce once a day, then we upped it to 2x a day.
Once he got used to the texture and eating from a spoon, we tried prunes. He got oatmeal and prunes for breakfast, and oatmeal and applesauce for dinner.
Then on to pears - he loves pears. We're on peaches now.
He gets oatmeal at every meal, and we introduce one new food every 5 days or so. We'll give him a "safe" food for one meal, and the "new" food for the next. That way he's getting some variety.
We're starting with fruits, some people start with veggies first. I'm actually letting my mother pick the order of his foods, since she feeds him the most.

Re: Starting food - a question...
It doesn't have to be breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If it were peas, I would do it maybe for lunch/dinner for 2-3 days and no other new foods and then move on to the next food, so each day, you are only introducing 1 new food.
