Starting table food - puked up breakfast...questions for BTDT moms
So DD is 9 mos - her ped said to start her on table food. I made mini pancakes for her this morning and cut them into the tiniest bite size pieces. She seemed to love them. Then after she was done - she made that gagging/choking face so I picked her up and patted her back...she vomitted all over me (first vomit in 9 mos - not bad but it was gross). Is this normal for them to puke when first trying real food? She does have a cold and sounds like she has a lot of mucus/chest congestion so I feel like sometimes she gags on her bottle just from the congestion....could it have been that?
It's just annoying - first thing I try her on and she pukes. I know myself and know I'll whimp out and hold off a little longer now.
She only has 1 tooth which I know means nothing - she gums at puffs and mummums great and has the chewing thing down really well.
TIA!
ETA: DH asked me if I thought she was allergic...I don't. There were the little chunks in the vomit - almost like she didn't fully swallow/chew/digest them. She's never had any allergic reactions to any solids and she's had them all...so I definitely don't think this was an allergy.

DS is not a good eater and when he was younger he gagged and puked a lot
Worse when they're congested so it's totally normal. Next time maybe don't give as much table food and if she's still hungry try pureed food.

good to hear - thanks. I did think the congestion had something to do with it since during the day sometimes she just sounds like she's choking from her bad cold. We are going on vaca next week so I've decided to hold off on trying any more table food - she is such a good eater with the solids and on such a great schedule with that...figure I may as well not mess with that since we're going on vaca. Funny thing is I didn't give her all that much of the pancakes...maybe it was just 1 mini one. I followed it up with her oatmeal/fruit puree to wash it down.
Thanks for the tips!

You will notice that the amount of table food they eat VS the amount of baby food is huge. Table food is very filling for them so start off with small portions.
