STD? How come NY has this and NC doesn't?
I only got paid 3 weeks from my company and that was it besides using my own sick and vacation time. Maybe NC does and I don't know about it?

I don't know NC's policy, but in NY there is a state law that you get STD through the state at the rate of $170 week. For pregnancy/delivery, you get 6 weeks for a vaginal and 8 weeks for a c/s. NJ has coverage also, and the payments is like double that per week. But you'd have to check what the NC law is, if they even have a STD mandate.

I don't think there is a mandated STD plan for NC.
I just checked with my employers website and the plan they offer is through Hartford. They cover 60% of your weekly base salary? Don't know if that means they pay 60% of every week you work or 60% total per month?
It is a voluntary STD plan so I'd have to enroll VERY quickly in case I got PG because it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions that you have been diagnosed or treated for in the past 365 prior to your plan effective date. So that would mean if I enroll now at $7.25 per month (based on my salary) I can't be diagnosed with a PG if I got PG before it was effective.
ETA: The wait period for the plan to be effective is 4 weeks.

They will pay you 60% of your salary for the amount of time you are on STD (usually 6 or 8 weeks). This is better than the NY State plan.
My HR told me they also don't take out Federal taxes when you are on STD so your paycheck isn't truly 60% of what you usually take home.

Re: STD? How come NY has this and NC doesn't?
Ok, thanks!!!
Can you clarify this statement for me? ____________________________
9. Is pregnancy covered? Yes. Maternity claims are approved for 6 weeks from the date of delivery, regardless of whether the delivery is a C-section or normal delivery. Since the STD plan has a 4 week elimination period, STD benefits will be paid for the remaining 2 weeks. An STD claim may be approved for longer than 6 weeks if your physician provides medical documentation that substantiates your inability to work. ________________________________
From what I read in another area is that the plan itself becomes eligible after 4 weeks. I just don't understand what they're saying about the 4, 6 week thing? Are they saying that you only get paid for 2 weeks since you don't get anything for the first 4 weeks? Or do you get 6 weeks all together for whenever you want to use them after the date of delivery? So confusing!!!
