sticker shock
so i went to great shapes in merrick today.
yeah, i am going to have a VERY hard time explaining to DH why it's a good idea to spend $130 on ONE bathing suit (tankini style).
i am going to check out some other stores tomorrow... wish me luck! and if you have any advice on how to suit a big-chested girl for less than my entire paycheck that would be appreciated

Re: sticker shock
I bought a bathing suit from there before. The are expensive, but they do last a long time and are well made. I like the fact that they sell their suits by bra size and have seperates. I have a hard time finding bathing suits where the tops fit me. I wish I could fit in the tops of an old navy or target suit, I always spend alot of $ on bathing suits. Try victorias secrets, they also run by bra size and have alot of underwire tops.

Re: sticker shock
i have this one (i think this top is longer than mine) link
its around the same price as the great shapes one. sorry. but it fits perfectly, and i have HUGE boobs, like HUGE. and it holds those bad boys up. i do have to say, ive had it for 3 years and it still looks brand new. so for me, it was definitely worth the money.
ETA: my top is a size 12D and i am in no way shape or form a D but, it fits!

Re: sticker shock
I'm all for saving money but a good bathing suit is worth $130. I bought one at Vickies (Victoria's Secret) for about $80 recently. I can't remember whether that included the skirt piece that I opted for. At Blum's you can get something nice for $60-$70. Still, sometimes you just can't find anything for less and $130 is worth it so that you can end the hassle of bathing suit shopping.

Re: sticker shock
I agree with Kerie. Good bathing suits costs $, especially if you need something specific.
I bought a DD tankini top with under wire & swim shorts last year from Land's End & I don't think it was much less.

Re: sticker shock
newport news usually has tankini's and their prices are pretty reasonable. they hold up pretty well too.

Re: sticker shock
I looked in that store first too..and then went to macy's and bought the same Michael Kors suit I saw in Great Shapes for almost $40 bucks cheaper. I would try Macy's in Roosevelt field. they had a huge selection. Of course if you can get into the city, Macy's Herald Sq. is the best place for bathing suits. I've always been able to find nice suits there for like $80 bucks.

My cousin did extremely well at the swimsuit store at Tanger in Deer Park. I don't know what it's called, but she got a nice Calvin Klein tankini for like $60.. it was originally $140

I second this. I've gotten several suits from them and they've all been very well made and not terribly expensive.
