Still doesn't feel "real"
I feel like I should be giddy and all like, baby minded. But it just doesn't feel real I guess. I have my 12 week sono on Saturday, will that make it more real? Or is it when I get an actual belly? Or when I find out the sex? When does it get all consuming?!?!?

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
pregnancy didn't feel real to me for a long time. in the beginning, all i knew was that i felt like C R A P and had nothing to show for it.
once the 12 week sono came around it got a little more real...
and then with the emergence of the baby bump it got even more real...
and when we found out it's a boy it got even more real...
but here i am at almost 36 weeks, and i still don't believe that in a month i will be a mom!!!! i feel him move around and i am SO happy and SO in love, but somehow it's still not completely real. i think it will finally hit me when he is in my arms!

I think for me it will feel real when I have this baby!! Im only a few weeks ahead of you at 16 weeks, Ive just started to feel what i think is the baby "quickening" movements, and it still doesn't feel totally real!

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
Whle I have made so many little changes in life, it still does not totally feel real! We had a sono (almost 13w) yesturday and it was so amazing how big they have become, but still is not real.
Maybe when I get the round belly or feel them kick will it really feel like I am pregnant.

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
I agree w/alexlynn - it gets more intense as each level passes - i'm 8 wks away and still can't believe that i'm going to be responsible for another person...a helpless child...it's quite scary, but exciting and everything else all at once...

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
Glad I'm not alone! But I feel like it's a shame that this time is passing without being able to obsess over it, like I did my wedding, you know?

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
IMO it will really real when you actually feel the baby. Even though the sono is BAM in your face! It's still not real until you actually feel life inside of you!

oh, you'll obsess over it, trust me! but i found that the obsession didn't really start until he started moving around. then i became obsessed with feeling him and wondering what he was doing in there... that was also the time that i started talking to him (even in public ). but there is still that last level for me that i haven't reached in order for him to feel fully "real".

I agree completely! It all felt more real to me around 12 weeks, when I could see there was a baby in there. Then again when my bump started to show, then with the 20 week sono, and again with the kicking. But I still can't quite get my mind around the idea that there is a real baby in there at 28 wks.

I couldn't have written this better. This is exactly how it happened for me too! It's a little at a time I guess....

I totally agree with this. I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and each of those milestones made it more and more real for me, but during the first 12 weeks I could almost completely forget that I was pregnant. Now that she's moving around it's all I can think about!

Re: Still doesn't feel "real"
My first pregnancy felt real right away, but didn't actually hit me until I found out the sex of my daughter. Then I could give her a name, decorate her room, had a shower.... My second pregnancy was immediate- although lost it. This pregnancy does not real for me until I start feeling him or her. I am 12 weeks Sat. it's too early for me. this is just me though.
