Re: still passing (my miscarriage)

Did you go to the Dr today? Is that how you confirmed it; thru a Sono?

Can you get a D&C? Or do you prefer not to?

You may see what may seem like an extra larger clot. This can also take over a week to pass as well.

How long ago did the bleeding start? I had light bleeding on and off for a week. I knew I was miscarrying because I had a sono which showed a blighted ovum and the doctor suggested that I allow my body to pass naturally since my body started the process. It took a full week before the heavy bleeding started and then it took me a little over a week to pass everything. It was a few large clots and a bunch of small ones. It looked and felt like a really bad period. When I passed the larger clots I was very crampy but Advil and a heating pad helped. If you have what they call "left over product", I hate calling it that but that is the clinical term they used after my second miscarriage, and your body does not pass it, you may need a D and C. What did the doctor say?

still passing (my miscarriage)

I'm so sorry for your loss and that you are going through this. It truly sucks.

I miscarried at 11 weeks. I had been spotting pink and cramping (which is why I went to the doc - ER actually, and they found out the baby was gone.) Then, 2 days later, I started bleeding and cramping very bad. I passed it all over the course of a few hours. TMI-I never actually saw what passed (I couldn't look), but I felt it.

Again, I'm so sorry. We are all here for you.

Re: still passing (my miscarriage)

thank you so much for the responses.

i bled heavily on sunday and was at the ER yesterday for a rhogam injection.

i went today for an ultrasound and she saw that i had not passed it all, but it was just near the cervix.

my bleeding has diminished a lot. im hoping that means i passed it today, but is it possible that itll still be in my uterus even if u stop bleeding? because according to the ER doc, my cervix seemed closed.

i go back in 1 wwek for a followup anyway..but i just wish i wold know before then. i would rather pass naturally than a D&C..but i guess we'll see next week.

Re: still passing (my miscarriage)

After my second miscarriage I needed a D and C and I never really stopped bleeding. I went for a follow up exam and was told everything was find. It slowed down to almost a stop and then started up again brutally. I was sent up to Winthrop ER and it turned out there was a piece of tissue the size smaller than a pea left in my uterus which the sono tech only discovered after they noticed a weird pattern in blood flow in my uterus. I needed a second D and C. If you have stopped bleeding completely, dont have cramping and stay that way, chances are its gone, but please follow up anyway.

thank you. i will definitely go back, i have a follow-up on tuesday. my bleeding is almost done but as of yesterday at noon, i still hadn't passed it all. it was just at the tip of the cervix. im praying it came out, but honestly i couldnt tell.

was just hoping that the end of bleeding meant it was done, but i guess we're really not sure until next week. once my bleeding is done, do you think i should see if i can go sooner for the ultrasound?

If your bleeding or cramping gets worse and stays worse I would ask to go sooner rather than later. But natural MC's can linger for a bit. Go with your gut if you feel like something is wrong, I'm glad I did. It also sucks because the bleeding is a reminder of everything. Finding out tissue is left over adds insult to injury, something else to worry about while you are grieving. You just want it to be over. Try to take care of yourself, allow yourself to grieve and be your own advocate if you feel like something's wrong. Lots of Chat Icon Chat Icon to you.

Re: still passing (my miscarriage)

I'm so sorry for your loss :( I've been through 2 miscarriages this year and is such a devastating experience.

Both times I miscarried naturally. It took about 5 days for everything to pass. The first time I was 7 weeks and the second I was 6 weeks. When I passed the sac (both times it was day 2 of bleeding), there was severe cramping. The first time the cramping lasted about 10 minutes and the second time the cramping was pretty severe for about 20-30 minutes. Also, the doctor wanted me to save the sac for chromosomal testing.

I also found the more I talked to close friends and family, the better I felt. Definitely use your support system during this difficult time.

Prayers and best wishes for you in future Chat Icon Chat Icon

So sorry for your loss :(. When I miscarried my bleeding started out heavy then tapered off then started up again but not as heavy as it was originally. I then passed the sac soon after, about a week after I started miscarrying then I spotted for a few days after and it stopped.

I'm so sorry Chat Icon

As hard as it is, I would personally try and avoid a d&c at all costs.

For one of my losses, it took 4 months. I spotted gradually and had yo go for weekly beta checks to track it down to 0, but it did eventually happen.

A d&c is actually faster and most doctors will jump to recommend it as a first option, but that's not necessarily what's best for your body.

I agree with this, it is a surgical procedure and comes with it's own list of complications.

Re: still passing (my miscarriage)

thanks for your responses.

the original post was a few weeks ago.. and lucky for me, my body passed everything on its own, and relatively quickly. my body returned to normal within a week or so and we'll see if i get my period on time (which would be in a week or so).

i am very happy to not need the D&C, and happy that my doc didn't jump to that as well.

thanks again! Chat Icon
