stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
I thought my m/s phase was done by the 13th week, but today at 16 weeks I'm sick to my stomach. Started vomiting at work and had to go home early. I've been throwing up everything I drink and getting a little nervous about that. I don't know if it's m/s or if I caught a virus. Might be a virus because (sorry for the TMI, but) the vomit is accompanied by diarrhea. What are you supposed to do if you get a stomach virus though during your 2nd trimester? I mean, I literally cannot eat, but I've been trying to drink as much as I can to keep from dehydration. I just want to make sure baby's alright even tho I can't keep down enough. My next dr appt is on Monday.

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
When I hit 7 weeks I finally thought morning sicknes had kicked in. I never even left the bathroom for 5 straight hours. I was spewing from every hole I had. But the doctor and nurses all said that m/s doesn't come out of both ends. KWIM?
They also said the baby would be fine and would continue to take any nutrients as I suffered. I believe they gave me immodium for a day or two. (But don't quote me because this was years ago.) Feel better!

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
Unfortunately, you do get sick during pregnancy.
TMI - I get diarrhea once a week. This is because I had problems with my stomach before (IBS.) With that begin said, things tend to heighten when you are pregnant. I was told the last time that the baby presses on my intestines and that's why I get it. It may not be the case with you but it does happen.
I would try not to worry too much. If you feel better by tomorrow, I would try and rehydrate with some gatorade or smart water. If it does continue, I would call the emergency line to see if you can at least go to the hospital.
I hope you feel better.

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
thank you guys for getting back to me on this. I mean, I assume lots of pregnant people DO get sick so it can't be THAT serious. I do feel better this morning. Ate a small breakfast and my stomach got a little 'iffy' again, but I'm just going to try to drink a lot & take it easy.

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
I saw your post last night but had no advice at all -- I hope you're feeling better today and can keep some food down! The liquids is a great idea.
I had a virus this past few days that started with an awful sore throat that kept me up all night, mild fever, and is now just a head cold (all congested, turning into a cough). I was so scared of being sick while PG! The doctor was fabulous and didn't make me feel bad at all about coming in. He said the baby is just fine and it's normal to get sick since your defenses are down when your PG.
It's good you're going in on Monday so they can help if you still can't keep anything down. I hope you feel better asap!!

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
So sorry you aren't feeling well! A few people at work were out this week with a stomach virus so I am wondering if maybe something is going around. I stayed clear of everyone who sneezed and I am just hoping I don't catch it! Feel better!

Re: stomach virus? or continuing morning sickness?
yeah, I work in a preschool and one little girl ended up vomiting in my classroom on Thursday (I got sick on Friday). I had another teacher clean it up, but I did clean up the girl (with gloves and washed my hands), but i still might have breathed in some nonsense. It's hard NOT to get sick when you work with children. I am feeling MUCH better though, thank you for asking that's so sweet. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it though on Monday and tell her I work with kids and ask what kind of precautions I should take for future reference.
