Stony Brook girls heard anything about the new post-partum rooms?
My midwife told me they were in use as of last week and that they are fabulous. Two of my friends delivered there last month, but they were still in the old rooms. I'm so excited about the new rooms. I was in the old ones with DS and they were OK, but I'm so excited for the new facilities.

I work for Stony Brook but outside the hospital . I have heard from people who work there that they are really nice. Private rooms with flat screen TV's and big showers. I wish I could deliver at Stony Brook

One of the reasons why I chose a doctor affiliated with SB!   The food in the hospital there is also AMAZING!

I'll second that! The best part is you can order ANYTIME! I think I ate more in the hospital than I ate in 8 months of being pregnant

I went to "Meet the Midwives" last week & we got a tour of the new post-partum rooms. They are really pretty! Each room has a nice private bathroom with a big shower & the walls in the room I was in were an orange color. I liked that they weren't the typical sterile looking white walls. The room also has a (small) flat screen TV & if I remember correctly an arm chair.

So the bathrooms aren't shared anymore? That's GREAT news! It just feels so much more sanitary not sharing.
Can DHs stay overnight in the rooms with you?

I saw them at the opening. They were not finished yet, but they were really nice. I'm going to be delivering at southside. I'm so jealous.

Wow lucky girls. I am jealous. I am mid way between SB and Huntington Hosp. The Dr. I ended up using is affiliated with Huntington...which I found out has no NICU. Since then I was thinking about switching to an OB affiliated with SB. Anyone have any recs?

i work in the NICU there. i have toured thru the new unit and have brought babies to the nursery there. the bathrooms are not shared anymore.. everyone has their own now and the rooms are much bigger than they were.

My doctor may be a little far for you but I go to Dr. Davenport at Three Village Women's Health in East Setauket and the practice only delivers at SB.

yup the new room are open and from what I heard are beuatiful I just missed it though...the only bad thing is that if the baby needs NICU it is still on the same floor they didn't move down where the mommies are and it is a hike and a half to get there I have heard the new mommies complain that they are so far away from thier babies

I use University Associates in OB/GYN. I was between there and Three Village Women's Health, and I heard nothing but good things about both. What I didn't like about Three Village was that I heard you see a different doctor at each visit. I like having one doctor I get to know, even if that person isn't there the day I deliver.

I go to 3 village and I love it there! I have been happy with all the doctors I've seen.
Today, I asked about the tours and they are given on Sundays in case anyone wants to go. I need to call and set it up!

I have heard this as well. This is part of the master plan to be done in 2010 where the NICU will be on the same floor as the maternity. They are working on improving that.
