Strange toilet seat cover question...with poll!
Okay, you know those tissue paper toilet seat covers that they have in public bathrooms? Well, they are basically in the toilet seat shape, with a slit going all the way around and its just connected right there in the front.
My question is, are you supposed to tear that little attachment so the whole flap goes into the toilet or are you supposed to leave it?
Inquiring minds want to know...

I always tore it, this is how the water grabs it, and pulls it in once you flush. Or at least last my thinking!

I hate public bathrooms!
When I am desperate I take tissues from outside the bathroom and use them as mittens. I tear the flap and squat. Shake and run for dear life. I anti-bac my hands after leaving the scary bathroom.

What's worse is when you have a toilet with an automatic flusher, so you quickly go and put the seat on (I usually tear it also) and then the stupid toilet FLUSHES, sucking the cover down, so you have to start all over! ugh lol

I avoid as much as possible to use public toilets but if i had to use.. i HOVER.. and layer lots of paper..

I tear the little flap out completely which I know I'm not supposed to do. Then I place the cover on the seat.

I appreciate the answers, and honestly, I usually put tp on the seat (a fear of someone's pee or otherwise will soak through the cover), but I wanted to be a bit more "green" in my bathroom habits  so I thought I'd venture over to the covers...they seem to be a bit more environmentally friendly, and I really don't know why that is...
And who are the wisenheimers saying they don't know what a bathroom is

I don't think I've ever seen those toilet covers in a public bathroom. But then again, I don't remember seeing too many toilet lids, or working toilets for that matter in the men's room.
It always looks as if there was an explosion in the men's room, with the floors and sinks covered with water, soggy toilet paper, and...well you get the idea.

I would be careful about that-especially if it is inside the stall. When the flush comes, millions of pieces of debris fly out of the toilet and onto all surfaces in the area-including that sheets.
