Strep - back to school in 24 hours?
From experience, did you send your child back to school in a day after having strep?
My son had strep (1st time). Sent home from school Wednesday - low grade fever\and complaining of neck pain. Went to dr and started meds on Wednesday evening. His fever was 100.5 at the highest. Had no fever all thru night nor the whole day today (no low grade or anything). Full of energy, eating normal, said his throat feels perfect (his words). Had 2nd does of meds today. So tomorrow morning he will have been on meds for over 36 hours. Dr said he'd be fine to go back Friday but feels weird to be gone so quick. Am I just being too nervous?

Personally, if it were my DC I would keep them home the Friday and let them have the whole weekend to get back to 100%. My ped has told me numerous times that when their immune system is just getting over something they are way more susceptible. This is why many kids end up sick back to back. There is so much out there right now - you wouldn't want him to catch the flu after just fighting off strep. Not worth it to send them back for one day of school. JMO though!

Yes I have. It depends on how sick they were. If they are fever free for 24 hours with no medication to bring it down and are on antibiotics for at least 24 hours it is ok. My DD has been really sick with strep and out a week. Other times just a tummy ache and headache no fever no sore throat. If there is no fever, and on the meds I don't see why your DC couldn't return to school.

Normally I completely agree with this, but the OP says her DC is back to normal. DD has been like that and back to her normal state of health. If the OP said her child was still feeling off, tired or had been sicker I would concur with your statement.
