Strep throat questions
If your kid got strep throat did it go away with first round of antibiotics?
Dd had it right before Xmass and started with same exact symptoms today

Nope. DD had it for the first time this year and did 10 days on antibiotics and our Ped always makes us come in for a re-test after the antibiotics- hers came back positive. So we did another 10 days on a stronger antibiotic and went in for another retest- which thankfully was negative.
Ped said the strain this year is very resistant to antibiotics. He said it's very important to confirm the virus is gone, because if untreated it can lead to kidney or heart problems.
I believe it and I'm freak about strep because I had strep when I was 10 and even with antibiotics, I developed Rheumatic Fever, which attacked my heart and I was very sick for years. Like in the ICU and blood transfusions and bed rest and steroids sick...so if you have any inkling it's strep-- please go to the dr ASAP!

I was supposed to go back this Friday i change the appt to tonight. Guess we'll see!
Poor kid its her birthday :(

Yes, she always gets rid of it after one round. Your ped doesn't retest? Ours does because of that, also it can tell if you are a carrier.
Btw your DC might just have it again. My older DD has gotten it a few times fairly close together. She was cultured in between so i know it went away.

Ugh dd had it over break too. It did go away but I only know that b/ c she had a reaction to the amoxicillin so we went back before she finished the med. it was gone so we didn't remed. But now dh has it as of today so let's who gets it next ugh. It seems to be rampid this year.

Took her it's negative for strep
Guessing this is something viral

yes rapid was negative but they are sending it out?
Are there a lot of false negatives with rapid?
