Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
Is anyone else going back to work on a limited basis? I am lucky to have my mom helping me one full day a week and one afternoon a week; I plan to teach like 3 yoga classes one day, and 1 yoga class on an afternoon. Then...I plan to teach one on Saturday a.m. when DH is home. All this after like 6-8 weeks of maternity leave. Stressed about....is 6-8 weeks enough time, will my students actually want me back after other people are covering me, am I going to even be able to focus on class while the baby is with my mom. I know I'm not alone on this, and I know that of course I am lucky my work schedule is flexible and certainly far from full time. BUT I am so OCD and anal and organized that I feel stressed already about trying to figure everything out. Let alone, it's a guessing game as to how we'll all feel physically and emotionally after having our little bundles. Anyone else trying to plan their "new" work schedules?? My mom thinks I will be glad for the mental outlet, and a few hundred dollars a week will sure come in handy. DH says he will love the alone time on Saturday morning with her....how is everyone else doing with this?

Returning to work after the baby is hard but it gets easier and after a while you easily get back into a routine

I hear ya, but it's just something that I'm going to have to do. Unfortunately, my job isn't as flexible, so after 12 weeks, I will be jumping back into a 40+ hour work week. Have you thought of maybe aiming for 6-8 weeks, but possibly taking off a bit longer depending on how you are feeling? Or starting off slow by teaching 1-2 classes a week and see how you feel?

Re: Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
I know it will be hard to go back! I have to go back to work either 6-8 weeks after as well...I am a teacher and my husband is a pediatric resident. We both work full time and my husband works enough for two people....
We just found out that we get free daycare thank God at his hospital but that means my husband will have to drive the baby to NYU and then I will have to pick the baby up when I get off of work. We realized there will be gaps that no one will be there. I am not sure what we are going to do.
I wish my parents lived closer and could help more but they also work full time :( It def. is stressful but I know it will all work out!

Re: Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
I had a breakdown about this at work yesterday. My boss is awesome and she was great because she was telling me how I will be ok since my parents and in-laws are close to where day care will hopefully be (which is also across the street from DH's job). I just wish I only had to work PT or not at all. Nugget isn't even close to here and already causing so much stress on Mommy!!!

I hear ya too...I will only be taking off about 6-8 weeks after DS is born and then either try to work PT and ease into FT or just going straight back to FT. Luckily my mom will be watching baby...

Re: Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
I understand the stress however I try not to worry about things that I have no control over and can't predict. Like you said you don't know how you will feel and HOW crazy life will be with baby. I have some friends who had a very difficult time leaving the baby and going to work at first and I have some who couldnt wait to resume that part of their old life and get out of the house. You seem to have a lot of flexibility and although it's going to be hard, you will get used to it and so will your baby.
I work from home and think about how I am going to get any work done with a baby and nanny in my home. I also travel to NYC once a month and think about how I will feel leaving my family when I have to. I will make my trips shorter and more spaced out but I still think about it.
We all have these concerns, but I have no doubt that you will get through this and you and your baby will adjust beautifully!

Re: Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
I get 12 weeks off & then plan to go part-time. I'm not worried about babysitting because my parents are basically retired & MIL only works PT. DH also has different hours then me so he can take LO most of the time. I am worried about the significant income hit we will be taking. We can definitely afford it but we will be saving less & will need to make some sacrifices. It is going to take us longer to buy a house now also. I do stress about it but I know it's well worth it.

Very true!! I went back when DS was 10 weeks old...4 days a week. But it was smooth because we got on a routine. I remember stressing too...take it easy!

Re: Stressing out about "post baby" work schedule....
I think about it a lot but I try not to dwell on it because there is nothing I can do about it. I have to go back to work full time after 8 weeks and leave my baby at a daycare because I have no family that can watch him/her. It makes me very sad but I just have to do it. It also doesnt help that I hate my job and the thought of coming back makes me even sadder but it is what it is.

I'm in the same boat. There's nothing that I can do. I keep telling myself that millions of families are in the same boat and we'll get through it all....
