STTN question

Did your DC start STTN overnight and it stuck or was it gradual? My DS has slept from 9-5/5:30 for 5 out of the last 7 nights. Today it was 2:30 am so I rocked him back to sleep and then he woke up at 4 am and I let him coo in his crib for 30 minutes and when he started to cry I made him a bottle at 4:30 am. (I couldn't hold off any longer)...should I have rocked him again? I think he was starving...

He will be 8 weeks on Monday

Re: STTN question

At 8 weeks old, I would feed him.

STTN at 8 weeks is not the norm.

My DD did start between 8 and 10 weeks to STTN, but if she woke I fed her, at that age.

Re: STTN question

For my 1st DD she didn't STTN until 8mos when we did CIO.

With my 2nd DD has been pretty consistently sleeping from 9/10pm-6am. She sometimes wakes up and grunts/coos but if she cries I feed her. At this age (she is 8 weeks today) I feel like she's crying for a reason and I shouldn't let her cry.

Re: STTN question

THey change their schedule ALL THE TIME!! It may last..it may not. DS is 5 months and randomly changes his schedule still. If your 8 week old wakes..you should def feed her. 8 weeks is really young!!

Re: STTN question

Every baby is different. With my DD as soon as she STTN once that was it! It wasn't gradual at all. At 8 weeks she was sleeping from 10pm to 9am and at 12 weeks she was sleeping from 7:30pm to 7:30am. You can try giving your DS a little more bottle before bed so he's not hungry and get through all night. My DD had her last bottle about a half before bed.

Re: STTN question

DD is 9 1/2 weeks old and she is sorta sleeping through the night. She'll go down around 8:30ish, and I'll wake her around 11 for a bottle. Then she'll sleep till around 6 or 6:30. My doctor told me that once she stops eating at night for a good week then don't feed her (unless of course she is screaming for food). He said that if she can go that long then she doesn't need the food.

ITA.

DS slept through the night sometimes around 8-10 weeks but, then did what your DC is doing.

Re: STTN question

He didn't cry at 2:30 he was just grunting and cooing and when I changed him and rocked him he drifted right back off. I only fed him when he started to cry and seemed to be really hungry. My DS will take a bottle at any point during the day so I didn't know if feeding him at 2:30 when he wasn't crying would then make him dependent again on that time to be fed...

Thanks!

Re: STTN question

I'd feed him. DS started STTN around 8 weeks, then after only a few days of it, would go down at 9-10pm and wake at 4 or 5 am - I'd give him a bottle and he'd go to sleep again till 7am. Now this past week, he got rid of that other bottle, b/c I saw he was just grunting a little but not waking up or crying.
