Mommies of BOYS who STTN, I have a question regarding the diaper situation
I'm not sure how old everyone's babies were when they started sleeping for long stretches, but DS is a very good sleeper and hopefully will be STTN sometime in the near future. If DS was not big enough for overnites, what did you do as far as the diaper is concerned? It has been suggested that I double up, but am concerned about making the area too warm (he still has some fluid in his testicles too). Leaking hasn't been an issue...yet...but I don't want it to be and I want DS to be comfortable. TIA!

We always went one size bigger for nighttime and never had a problem. We still do that now because overnites just don't work for us. I prefer Pampers.

We use size 2 Pampers Baby dry for overnight and they retain the pee very well.

Colin wears size 2 during the day (at least for the next few days  ) and size 3 cruiser at night. Even if it's a bit big, they work well to collect all the pee

DS has been in Pampers BabyDry since we ran out of the swaddlers from the hospital and he has NEVER peed out. Just make sure the thingy is down.

were we supposed to double up??? DS is 12 weeks and sleeps 8 hours at night and he doesnt leak through. <knock on wood> he's been in pampers babydry, but i also like the swaddlers.
and agreed...point the thingy down and make sure the diaper is on tight enough. no skin should show on the hip.

we never doubled up. I didn't start using overnights until DS was about 4-6 mos old. I highly recommend Fisher Price Overnights (I believe they make size 2s)

DS wears Luvs diapers. No leaks at night anymore. They hold a lot. Some nights when I feed him, he falls asleep before I get a chance to change him. When he wakes in the morning after 8-10 hours of being in the same diaper and 2-3 bottles later, no leaks....

We went up a size at night before I discovered overnights when really helped. I wouldnt worry too much yet though until he actually starts leaking.
ETA: I searched high and low for Diaper Doublers and 2yrs later have yet to find them!

I always just put regular diapers on them and never had a problem...they weren't having that extra feeding during the night to produce more wet diapers.

My son is 2 but has been wearing a size bigger pretty much since a few months old....and now he not only does that but we have to put a maxi pad in there!!!! And he still leaks sometimes...
I think he saves all his pee for the nighttime....pottytraining should be fun...

Right now we've been just using a 1/2 size larger.
How do you double up? Doesn't it get a little tight?

I never had a problem..he used swaddlers til he outgrew them, now he's in cruisers. Never doubled up or went up a size. He's 11 mo. now, and I still haven't had a leak.

The double up diaper thing is you put a larger size diaper over DC's regular sized diaper. It works well for those who have tried it, but the people who have tried it all had girls. Not to say it wouldn't work for a boy, but was curious about it because of the extra "stuff" thats in a little boys diaper and how sensitive it can be to heat.
Thanks for the suggestions! These all sound great and I will try them.

ds wears size 2 during the day but at night i use huggies overnight size 3.
they are a bit big and high on his waist and back but i make sure they are fastened good and point his pee pee down
works great

I started using Huggies overnight once DS started fitting into them. Been using them since DS was about 6 months old.
Before that I just used my everyday diapers, I was lucky I didn't have too many "pee throughs"
