Students told not to say Obama's name
I really hope that this is not true....

Southern Students Told Not to Say Obama's Name
The ACLU has received multiple reports from parents and students in Mississippi claiming free speech violations. Pearl Schools superintendent John Ladner confirmed two incidents where students were allegedly told to not mention Barack Obama's name.
Reginald Simpson, a student at Pearl Junior High School, MS, was one of two students kicked from the bus after saying the president-elect’s name. Simpson said that the driver told the students to stop saying Obama because she didn't want to hear it.
In another incident, a girl's basketball coach told students they would be suspended for saying Obama. Superintendant Ladner said that both the driver and coach were disciplined and assured that no student will be punished for saying Obama's name.

Wow. The man is President Elect. I mean it's "OK" to say the President's name.

Anyway people are just stupid no matter where you go!
Also in the link above you can see the video, they said they have survailance video from the bus of the bus driver kicking the kids off !

Anyway people are just stupid no matter where you go!
This is so disturbing. I read it from a different newspaper so I guess the news is making its way out.
I guess going forward I will tell people not to say the word Red or wear the color because I hate it. What is this world coming to....

I agree. The bus driver must be dumb, since he/she forgot that the bus has surveilance video on it, so she cannot deny what the kids are saying.

This is the same place that had all the racial tension last year. I forget the name of the group, something with 8 it was about a year or so ago. It was a huge case.
Im not suprised. While I find it to be the most disturbing, Im not suprised. Welcome to MS.

i know this is not what the post is about - but the school i work in does not have a picture of the president hanging. come to think of it i've been to lots of schools back when i subbed and recently for workshops and i never saw a pic of the president. that's kind of sad.
anyway, i think the whole story is horrible and i'm afraid it's just the beginning of stupid and hateful stories regarding some poeple's views of our new president

It's unfortunate that people are so ignorant sometimes.
In NC there was a story last week about a teacher who singled out a young girl because she liked McCain. The girl's father is in the military and the teacher told her (in front of the whole class) that McCain wanted to keep her daddy in Iraq for "100 years." What a lovely thing to tell a 7 year old
