Re: Subway is Being Sued.
I'm not saying I agree with the lawsuit, but my boss has subway all the time and if I was him and found out I was paying for one thing and getting another, I'd be a little annoyed. What if the sandwich measures up at 10" or 9"? Would you be ok with the lawsuit then?

Subway is Being Sued.
Honestly they should just change the names from 6in and footlong to Half Sub and Full Sub because really that's the only difference between the two.

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
I used to work at Subway during high school. All the bread is frozen, precut sticks. If you put them in the proofer for a shorter amount of time, they wouldn't poof up as much, but it was still the same amount of bread.
I guess now they'll freeze them skinner but longer than a foot when frozen so they proof longer and larger than a foot.
Crazy. Either way, same amount of bread, same amount of toppings. It's just how much air is in your bread. So in actuality they are fighting that they didn't get enough air in the bread.

I don't eat at Subway, so this doesn't affect me in the least. My personal take is there are so many bigger fish to fry, this is a total waste. And not for nothing, when some people think they're being sooo healthy eating at Subway, but load their sandwiches up with meat/cheese/fatty condiments, maybe a few less inches wouldn't hurt!

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
They actually did not drive away but pulled into a spot, it was an older car and was not equipped with cup holders. But it is truly an interesting case that if McDonalds had been smart would never have seen the inside of a courtroom since all she wanted were her medical bills covered.
This was covered in a documentary called Hot Coffee, which is coming back to HBO on Feb 4, this movie explores the justice system and is quickly becoming a must see for all law students.

It was/is also on Netflix...It was really interesting and definitely puts a different perspective on this age old story.

LOL! That's what cracks me up about this case. People are mad that they're not getting their full 12 inches of questionable lunchmeat. 11 inches of this foodlike substance is not enough for me, goddammit!!! No wonder we're an obese nation.

Subway is Being Sued.
They should be sued for that horrible stench wafting through the air near all subways. The smell is like a yeasty, pungent, sweaty sock. I guess it's the 11" bread baking?

So if you pay for a 1/4 lb of beef, should is it ok if they consistently short people on it?

I don't make it practice to weigh my meats when I get home. I also don't think the world is out to get me by short changing me an inch of bread and some nitrate laden cold cuts. Is it ok? I'm indifferent to it in this situation. Do you count every potato chip in the bag to make sure you get 11oz? Do you count every square of toilet paper? I'd bet you don't, which is exactly why I think this preposterous.

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
It is SO stupid. What the franchises are provided with is enough dough to bake a 1' sub. HOWEVER, if they bake at store level for a few minutes less or whatever, they don't rise as much.
Same things happen in my kitchen when I make cupcakes, I didn't sue Dunkin Hines bc I didn't bake the cupcakes properly or my oven varied and I yielded one less cupcake than the package indicates.

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
The jury verdict on the McDonald's case was set aside and she was ultimately awarded a lot less. That part hardly got any media coverage until the HBO documentary.
I just want to sue Subway over the smell. I never understood how the place has such an undeniable stench but I can never attribute the stench to anything specific that they serve.

I honestly doubt I would notice. The deli might have been shortchanging me for years.. and I haven't noticed at all. BUT.. if I DID happen to weigh my deli meat when I get home and I found that it was .23 instead of .25.. I'd be a little put out. BUT I WOULD NOT SUE. I'd go to the deli, I'd tell them there is a problem, I might even ask for a refund. I might never go there again. I would probably come on here and RANT about it.. I might tell all my friends and family to be careful. Maybe - if I was really motivated - I'd call the local paper and tell them about the injustice. I would NOT hire a lawyer for a frivolous law suit. I think it's bananas.

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
Here is why I am ok with them being sued. They promote A $5 FOOTLONG and if it isn't 12", that is false advertising. Listen, I think subway sucks, but it doesn't mean other people feel the same way and I am sure many people go because they are getting a deal for a footlong. If it happened once, then yes, the lawsuit is a joke. If it happened all the time, I think he has a case.

What does their nasty meat have anything to do with the false advertising they are doing? They could be putting lard on a sandwich, as gross as that is if they are advertising a 12 inch sandwich then the consumer should get a 12 inch sandwich.

Re: Subway is Being Sued.
People have likely complained to them, and they did nothing. So what's the next step to get their attention, a lawsuit. Makes sense. Millions of people eat Subway, and if they are advertising their sandwich as 12", it should be 12". If you went to the butcher and paid for a pound of chicken and it was 3/4lb time and time again, you would complain right?

I don't put much stock into this as "false advertising." Like other posters have said, there are many variables that could account for the shortage, but people don't want to hear it. I personally don't think it's a big deal. Some people just always need to make mountains out of molehills because because they need to make their principles known.
