Posting from my iPhone still no power. But I had to reply to this. Even if restaurants are open how can you trust their food if they lost power too? And how can you trust that the deliveries they get were properly refrigerated, with all of this chaos? I certainly don't trust anything right now!
Because reputable restaurants are not going to risk their reputation and law suits by serving bad food. i ate at Bertuccis today and I am still alive to tell. What's the alternative? Don't eat?

I don't know. I think since this is such an odd storm that no one really knows what is to come in the next few weeks regarding food supply. I made sure to buy a lot of canned snd dry food in case we have safe food supply issues coming. As much as I want to trust restaurants I don't because there is just craziness going on

a reputable place is not going to serve spoiled food and risk sickening 100s of people, that is why.

My parents own a deli in suffolk, never lost power. With that said, the board of health was out on Wed. Doing inspections. They were at my parents deli in selden, checking food quality. I think they have it under control.

Exactly. I can't live my life in paranoia like that or I'd be in the bomb shelter eating from a can for the rest of my life.
ETA- still no massive diarrhea from eating at a restaurant yesterday- so I think I am in the clear!!!

In today's Newsday
Restaurant Inspections
Seems like they have a pretty good handle on inspecting restaurants to make sure the food is safe.

Re: Suffolk County- Open Stores/Restaurants
Costco in Holbrook is open, not 100% online so you cant charge more.than $400. Selection for produce isnt great but its fresh. Cashier said everything bad had been tossed and they're selling new deliveries only.
