Summer beach vacation ** updated with resorts ** has anyone stayed at Disney Hilton Head?
I need help and recommendations for places to go/stay this summer. We like to go mid-late August since camp is over.
We try to rotate mountain, beach and lake and beach is up right now.
Kids will be 8, 6 and 2 so entertaining them is important. There needs to be some activities for them.
I'm open to anything from Nova Scotia down to the Outer Banks (Is NC too hot in summer?) Newport, Cape Cod, Montauk, Shelter Island, Fire Island, Block Island, Virginia Beach, Jersey Shore? I like some luxury too.
Has anyone stayed around any of these places? especially in August?
Disney Hilton Head
Wild Dunes Charleston SC
Kiawah Island, SC
Williamsburg, VA - not on the beach, but close and lots of attractions
Martha's Vineyard - other recommendations for Martha's Vineyard or Block Island would be great!

I went to wildwood, new jersey this summer with my brothers and nieces ages 4 to 11 and it was a lot of fun. we were about 10 blocks from the boardwalks which have rides and amusement parks. we did the beach during the day, then the pool mid afternoon to before dinner and then dinner at our motel or we took a walk to the boardwalk. i liked it a lot better than long beach island for the accessibility of not needing a car.

We stayed at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort in September. You'd need a car for dining if you don't want the snack bar at the resort (love the restaurants around HHI!) and the resort isn't on the beach, you take a shuttle to get there.

We loved Disney's Hilton Head resort. There were a ton of activities for the kids all the time, you do have to take a shuttle to the beach and to go to town but there is a shopping area with dining and cute shops within walking distance just over a little bridge. The rooms are really cool too. I can't wait to go back.

Sorry I just noticed your question. If you can rent a whole house, do it. I can recommend realtors to use and who to avoid. Lately we find the hotels easier and we like these properties. http://www.fivacations.com/. The owner's name is Harvey and I like to deal directly with him & not the ladeis in his office. We stay in one of his apartments that has all amenities. This may not be what you are looking for, though. The hotels there are not like the luxury hotels in other places. There are also some hotels out there that don't allow kids. Harvey has different rules for each of his properties and the one we like only allows kids during the week, not weekends. We book the same apartment every time.
ETA: not on the beach. He has one property that is right on the bay but it wasn't suitable for us. We stay close to the town & playground.

I'm a huge HH fan. Going again this summer. What about a house rental there? If thats an option, check out VBRO.com That's what we do, because it's a lot cheaper for much bigger accommodations. Even have our own pool. HH has amazing beaches, with sand so hard you can bike & bring strollers on it! VERY VERY family friendly, including the restaurants.
