Summer Rental

Starting to look into vacationing this summer with friends. We were thinking Lake George. Anyone do a week or weekend rental there? Any reviews would be great.

Pleas recommend other places too if you never did Lake George.

We're looking for something relaxing. The kids are gonna be 1 and 3 with both families so no kids parks. THinking of playing in the water during the day and then BBQ'ing and relaxing at night.

Thanks!

Re: Summer Rental

Cape Cod has some amazing places. We stayed at a place called the Windjammer - very laid back, no frills family owned place. The rooms were very basic, but it was right across the street from the beach. They also a had a pool and places for families to BBQ. DH and I went before we had kids and actually thought it was too family oriented for us at the time, we went for the beach, and it was very affordable.

Thanks! Our friends have a 2 year old and their son is a month younger than Mason so we thought we'd go away together for a long weekend. Just trying to get ideas.

James is so cute!

Re: Summer Rental

We're thinking about Rehoboth Beach or Dewey Beach, DE for a rental in July.... We have a long weekend in the Hamptons in June, my hub's boss gave us the use of his condo Chat Icon But July will be a week or 10 days out of state.
Are you looking at vrbo? Good site, just pick the state you want and you can peruse properties!!!

We were thinking the same Chat Icon We have friends in Rehoboth beach and Dewey Beach looks like a lot of fun, it's always full of families in the summer.

Erica sounds like a great plan! Haven't been to Lake George since I was little so I have no rec's in that area.

How are the beaches in DE? I just want a nice, kid-friendly area that doesn't look like it hasn't been updated since the 80's

Crashing
We have a place in Bethany Beach, DE. If you're looking in DE, I would recommend Bethany Beach for small children and Rehobeth for older (It has the rides and all). Dewey is where all the bars are, so I never thought of it as family friendly.

Re: Summer Rental

We did the Jersey shore when my DD was 18 months. We stayed in Sea Isle and it was perfect. We were 1 1/2 blocks from the beach so that I could just walk with the jogger.

This is the house that we stayed in, and it was beautiful and CLEAN!

Link

There are a million other properties in the area for rent though. There was a tiny ice cream shop around the corner and a playground a few blocks away.

There is a bunch of stuff within driving distance including a zoo, amusement park (geared toward smaller kids) children's museum. I would definitely recommend!! I am hoping to get back this summer Chat Icon

Any suggestions where you stayed?

Thanks! The only reason Jersey shore isn't an option is b/c I'm from NJ. Did it all. I had a shore house (def different kind than what I'm looking for now) Chat Icon
I just am looking in upstate NY. Also b/c DH used to go as a kid.

Gavin was 20 months when we went and I went on the rides with him. There's animals to see, a train, some smaller rides as well....he mostly liked running around!

We stay at my parents house, they have a house outside lake george.

I have friends who stay every year at the Juliana in Bolton Landing and love it!
