Sure to stir something... Air Marshal shooting.
Guy gets on a plane yesterday in Miami. Sits down after everyone is seated gets up runs up and down the aisle saying he has a BOMB. Air marshalls that were on the plane get up tell him to drop to the ground he refuses. He then runs into the jetway and reaches into his backpack. They shoot and kill him. His wife then goes onto say he is bi polar and didnt take his medication.
IM SORRY YOU DONT NOT EVEN SAY THE WORD BOMB ANYWHERE NEAR AN AIRPORT ESPECIALLY ON AN AIRPLANE!!!!!! I think they did the right thing
They are suspended and are investigating.

def. did the right thing... whether he was bi polar or now... if the threat was that serious---and he poteniatlly had a bomb in that bag he had to be stopped...case closed

Why did they shoot the wife and not aim at him instead? I'm confused a little. I'm sorry if someone gets on a plane and screams bomb & runs up & down the isles..what can one expect to happen???

Absolutely the right thing. Anyone who says otherwise just needs to put themselves in the position of both the air marshall and the people on the plane.
As far as the suspension, any time their weapon is fired, an investigation must follow. They're suspended with pay, which means they don't expect to find any wrongdoing on their behalf and it's more the notoriety of the case that they need to do something since the guy didn't actually have a bomb.

They didn't, it was just typed weird. They shot and killed HIM. Then, his wife said that he was bipolar and hadn't taken his meds.

Let's say they just let it go...and he Did have a bomb and killed 150 people....then what? It's sad the wife died but IMO right thing was done also.

ETA: I think they did the right thing, how were they to know that he had Bi-Polar? They reacted to the threat and the actions of this man.

well it is sad, his wife shouldn't have takin him on a plane knowing he was sick.

OK, that's what I meant ... she was the only one (besides him and he wasn't in the right frame of mind) who had any control of making sure him and the rest of the plane was safe.
She must feel terrible, it's an awful situation and I feel very bad for her.

Don is right - there are no winners in this.
If they hadn't shot and there WAS a bomb, they would be majorly blamed for lack of action.
If they shot and killed him and there WAS a bomb, they'd be heros.
And, in this situation, if they shot and killed him and there was no bomb, well, it's incredibly sad and I'm sure the ACLU will be raising quite a stink about infringement of rights.
What I want to know is why they didn't shoot to take him down instead of shooting to kill. Maybe they were trying to, but the news reports made it sound like there was a round of shots fired.

yea i agree....
aside from how hard it is to live with someone who has the disorder
It is EXTREMELY HARD to deal with when they are not taking medication...
I would have never let him on the plane....even if it meant calling the police

Well, I certainly don't think it's the wife's fault that he bugged out on the plane.
If this is the way the story went, then I believe they did what they had to do.
However, I have to wonder if this is how it really happened. I wonder if he ever really 'reached' for anything....
