Suspected Cow's Milk Sensitivity/Allergy- help me figure this out . . .

I have posted before that DD has a suspected cow's milk allergy/sensitivity.

After she tried Vanilla YoBaby and spit up like crazy afterwards both days she tried it, the dr. suggested that I can have her 1 year blood work done now at 9 months (still pondering this suggestion.) She suggested trying soy yogurt which worked out fine.

On a whim, I decided to let DD try Kraft American Cheese singles. She not only DEVOURED it (she devours NOTHING- hates to eat many things) she has been eating them for 4 days and not a sign of spit up to be seen. She tried the cheese puffs by gerber- loved them and has been eating them for days- not a sign of spit up.

Is it possible that she have the reaction to yogurt and not cheese if she has a cow's milk allergy? This is very confusing. I may try yogurt again in a few days to see what happens.

My DD is on Alimentum due to a milk protein allergy that was diagnosed at 2 weeks old. She's only 3.5 mos so we haven't tried cheese or yogurt yet so I have no advice on that, but I do have some adult friends who have lactose issues that show up only from milk and ice cream, maybe also yogurt, but never from cheese so what you're describing certainly seems possible to me, but I'd check with the ped to be sure.

My DD was on prescription formula (elecare) for a Milk Protein Allergy. We avoided EVERYTHING with Milk in it.

At 10 months, her gastro had us try cheese. She had NO problems with the cheese.

Then he had us try yogurt....at around 11 months.....no problem.

But Milk was an issue with her until 18 months.

The milk proteins are a bit different in milk, yogurt, and cheese. The body digests them differently. Your LO could have a problem with one or more foods with milk!

Good luck!Chat Icon

Thanks- I guess it is a case of trial and error then . . . .glad that it isn't all dairy, but will definitely have to get the bloodwork done as a startChat Icon
