Swaddling...

Alex doesn't fit in the "Swaddle Me" anymore.
I tried just not swaddling her anymore, and she did ok for a few nights, but lately she's been waking herself & I know it's b/c her arms are free & flailing.
For Moms that swaddle their babies that are over 4months, how do you do it/what do you use? Do they make a larger size "Swaddle Me"?
...and is it really safe to swaddle them beyond this point?
(Sorry, I may have asked that already in a previous post).Chat Icon

Re: Swaddling...

I never used the swaddle me but I did use the "miracle balnket", I think it look bigger. Antonio is a uge arm flarer, even at 8 months I sometimes hold his arms down. As he falls asleep he has to rub something like a pillow or a blanket.

When he was in the bassinet I used to put a blanket over his arms and tuck it really tightly into the sides of the bassinet. HTH

Re: Swaddling...

The miracle blanket is bigger. I have been using it to swaddle her legs only on the rare occasion that she is not sleeping with me. I don't like swaddling her arms anymore because I am afraid she will roll onto her face and not be able to roll back without her arms free.

Yeah, see, that's what I'm afraid of. She hasn't done that yet, but there's always a first.
But swaddling her legs does nothing, she likes the comfort of her arms being contained, you know? She really just needs to get used to it I guess, she's getting older, though I'd like some peace.Chat Icon

Re: Swaddling...

The Swaddle Me does come in a larger size than newborn. I am still using the larger one on Hayley but she is getting too long so she keeps kicking her legs out which is ok because her arms are still wrapped in it.

I had to stop swaddling at 3 months because Emma is so long!! - She would kick her way out of the largest miracle blanket. Anyway - She was a big arm flailer (is there is such a word - lol!) - I was so worried about her hitting herself in the head (she also has BAD eczema & scratches her head/face when she is tired.) I now use a Halo sleep sac and put mittens on her hands Chat Icon until we see the dermatologist - she's been on a 2 month waiting list - but that's another story....
She has learned to contain her arms on her own - I really never thought it would happen! Maybe Alex will surprise you?

They make a size large. Since we swaddled Miranda until a little over 6 months we had to go up a size.

Re: Swaddling...

We swaddle Bella in the Miracle Blanket and she is gonna be 8 months next Monday...we are SO close to saying goodbye, it's just that darn right arm that is a waker-upper...so she is legs out and left arm out at this point...
Miracle Blanket is MUCH better to use than Swaddle Me, at least from experience...
