I would go. Honestly the regular flu kills over 30K people a year and we don't stop living. I would not go to Mexico but Texas, yes.

Re: Swine flu anf flying with a 14 month old???
ya know, we're having similar thoughts... but for a business trip DH will take in mid-july.
Normally I would say 'continue living life as usual'.... except in 2003, when that hideous flu strain was going around, I caught it at a business meeting in new orleans. OMG, I was completely wasted for 3 weeks! and not back to a normal diet until 3 months later... My case was made worse than most others becuase I had to exert myself on day 3 of the flu and take a super-long trip home (complete with weather delays...)
I gave it to DH the moment I came home, dispite being careful, and keeping my distance.
A bad flu case could REALLY be bad for a baby/toddler... I'm actually getting a bit nervous about this. (there's a rumor in my building that the first swine-flu case in suffolk is a technician on the 4th floor )
The flu I had was really bad.. and from the reports, this thing is similar

I just saw on the news the 2 suffolk cases are a 10 year old at JFK Intermediate School in Deer Park and an elderly man who works at SFP. I didn't hearing anything about SB cases.

I wouldn't cancel any trips.
Plus, by your logic, you should be going on a trip and not to work since there might be a case in your building

Are you bringing a mask?
And can you believe, I checked in online for the flight at EXACTLY 24 hours before and I got B seating

Yeah well seats 1-15 in A group is for the business class. So it's easy to get B group if you're not fast enough and you don't have the info plugged in already.
No masks. But i will be taking some emergency C stuff.

Re: Swine flu anf flying with a 14 month old???
I would cancel if it were me. Texas is very very close to Mexico (and people frequently travel back and forth) and just because cases have not been confirmed does not mean they don't exist. Many people do not have access to healthcare or are suspicious of going to the doctor. I would avoid it, but again that's my opinion.

Re: Swine flu anf flying with a 14 month old???
I don't know what I would do to be completely honest.
If I did go I would make sure to use the Hand wipes the entire time
I hate to think that we have to live in fear like this - but I also am scared that germs fester on airplanes. DH wants to go away the last weekend in May (when he was supposed to go to Mexico) and I personally don't feel comfortable flying. Mostly since I'm preggo - but also for Jack!
Your mom would not be happy at all if you cancelled!

I wouldn't go, but I think I am extra neurotic because I live in Queens and most of the NY cases have been in Queens. This whole thing is making me crazy!

Re: Swine flu anf flying with a 14 month old???
I am not sure I would go. But whenever I travel I bring clorox wipes and clean the area/tray around and in front of me because planes are dirty and babies touch EVERYTHING. HAnd wipes are a must too. I know people who cover the seat with a pillow case. I have not quite gone that far yet, but I do hate for my kids to be sick on vacation.

I agree ~ although they said that the cases of swine flu are under control...but I would probably cancel (I am paranoid when it comes to this kind of stuff)
