Switching daycare advice
Need some advice. My kids are in a home based daycare, I was planning on switching them to a new place since my oldest will be 4 next month and I feel he needs a more age appropriate place for him. I am on 2 waiting lists for places I would like them to attend. One may have an opening any day but you never know. The other is for a place that they can't go to till September.
Recently I have become unhappy with the current daycare and would like to switch them sooner than later. Would it be unfair to the kids to move them to a place now and then possibly again in September? The thing is that my oldest really is not happy there anymore not to mention my own concerns.
Suggestions?

If it were me, I wouldn't want to switch them now, and again in September. I would expand my search to other schools with immediate openings that fit all of your needs.

I would not switch them 2x. Just when they get settled the would have up move. Too much change IMO.

If you have real concerns, take him out. If something bad happens, you would never forgive yourself.

What are your concerns? I would prefer not to switch twice - it is a big adjustment but if you are worried about their safety I would def switch

Re: Switching daycare advice
There are a few things that are minor in consideration but the most concerning to me is:
There is a new lead teacher who is very nice but it appears that the kids are not napping, when events are planned like show and tell they often do not do them because the day was so "crazy" we never had a chance is the response I have gotten more than 3 times in the last 2 weeks. My youngest is only 17 months old and when she does not nap she is a terror that makes the rest of the day miserable for everyone.
But most of all, when we first started my son was 18 months (he is now almost 4) and newly diagnosed with peanut/tree nut allergies. They assured me they would make it nut free the days he was in attendance (3 days). The other day I asked him what he had for lunch and he said a jelly sandwich because the others had PB &J and he cant have it cause he is allergic. At this young of an age it makes me nervous for him to be around it since kids so easily pass and share things.
As I stated before there have been things over the years that we have not been pleased with but these are really irking me. Am I overreacting?

Wow I'm surprised they have peanut butter when any child has a known allergy. My center is completely peanut free 24/7. I'd try and find a place now that you are happy with.

No, you're not overreacting. The lead teacher may be nice, and she may be new, but she is the LEAD teacher and needs to figure out how to run her class efficiently. Also, it's very concerning that they would serve pb&j on a day that your son is there. I'm surprised they serve it at all.
I'd start looking for a place that will suit your needs now. If you happen to need to switch again down the line, I think kids are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for.

I would be really upset they served peanut butter in the room. I would speak to the director and depending on their response I would possibly switch ASAP. That is very concerning they wouldn't take the allergy more seriously.
