Switching Formulas
Paige is on Nutramigen. She was put on it because she has a bit of Acid Reflux and she was gassy. She is now 4 months old and doesnt seem that gassy anymore. She farts, of course, but she never really seems like she is in pain.
Has anyone ever switched from Nutramigen to regular formula, without the doctors okay? I want to try Enfamil AR because she still spits up after every feeding. Sometimes, small amounts and sometimes a lot. I want to try it but I am nervous. She doesnt go to the doctor for another month.

If she is doing fine on it...I would keep her on it.

Re: Switching Formulas
I switched my daughter from Similac Advance to Similac Isomil without my doctors ok. I probably wouldn't switch to a regular formula without my doctors ok if DD was put on something for a specific reason though. I would put a call into the pediatician.

I'm with Diane on this one I would keep her on it ... I know it is expensive because my son is also on it, I would talk to your doctor first... My son's Dr. said once he starts on fruit and veggies we can work on changing due to the price....

Re: Switching Formulas
How about adding rice to the bottles for the spit up?? I would ask the Dr. about that. It helped a lot with Christopher.

Re: Switching Formulas
When my DD went in for her 2 mos check up the the doctor said the only reason she should be on Nutramigen was if she had a milk allergy. We had switched from Similac Isomil because the gassiness and fussiness was out of control.
Of course, he said we could keep her on it, but considering it's almost double to price of other formulas he suggested switching to Nestle Good Start or Enfamil Gentlease. We made the switch to Good Start and she's been on it ever since...she's now 6 1/2 mos old.
Keep in mind, DD was colic for the first 3 mos. So, I don't think any formula out there was our 'magic potion'.

Re: Switching Formulas
I am in the same situation, my DD has reflux and is on Nutramitgen ( switched from the soy, to Allimentum to Nutramitgen). I would like to try to go back to the soy and see how she does. I actually going to the doctor today to see what they say. I'll keep you posted.
