taking out of house = cranky/trouble sleeping?

Does anyone ever have the problem that when they take their baby out of the house for too long that they become cranky when you get home and don't sleep as well?

Is it that she is still a newborn? She does well if I keep it under 2 hours, but anything else and usually is more difficult for the rest of the day.

I read that it's ok for for getting to fall asleep, but babies shouldn't sleep in moving cars, strollers, swings because the motion does not allow for a restful sleep.

I want to get out and walk more. What to do???

I read that too about a restless sleep but I wouldn't keep from letting her sleep. She might be to stimulated which is making her overtired. Babies are usually ok for 1.5 -2 hours of wake time before they need a nap.
I would definitly take her out for walks and such and if she falls asleep then so be it and if you are almost home then I would leave her in the stroller or carrier until she woke up. I use to bring DS into the house with the stroller if he was still sleeping from our walk and he would give me another 30-40 minutes.

My baby is 5 months old and is a horrible catnapper but will sleep great on a long walk so when I can, that's how she naps! I find her very well rested after...

I find that taking DS out of the house for a little each day makes him a better sleeper. He could use some work on his naps. Wether he is in the crib, swing, or stroller he is only napping abot 45 minutes at a time.
