talk to me about Coxsackie virus...
Ughh..apparently I HAVE IT. DS daycare sent a letter home friday that a toddler has hand foot mouth disease, which is a strain of coxsackie virus. well, for a few days last week i had a canker sore that wouldnt go away, and then sat. i noticed my tongue looked a funny color. So I went to the dr. today and he said its coxsackie B virus. (he said 3 others came in TODAY with the same thing!).
He gave me an anti viral med, except its $150 under my plan..apparently its not a generic. So im not sure if I should pay for it (the dr. didnt seem set one way or the other that it would help.) and from what I read, that seems to be the case.
any adults here deal with this crap??
thankfully DS seems fine..no symptoms.
and Do i need to alert Ds daycare that I have it?? DS wont be there until thursday.

My brother had it - got it from some kids he worked with. Didn't take any meds though! I would let the daycare know you have it and watch out for your DS getting it. DS had it and the only reason I knew was b/c of high fever.

Re: talk to me about Coxsackie virus...
DS had it 2 months ago and I got some form of it. No OTC meds though because it's a virus. The Doc told us to mix benadryl and mallox and give DS 1/2tsp every 4 hours. I guess this soothed the sores to ease the pain when swallowing.
