talk to me about having a boy :-)

ok... so... I've known since i was little that i can't have biological children ( i have a chromosome "thing"). My mom handled it really well, and kept it positive, and always talked up adoption. When i was 16, i read a story about how litte girls in china were abandoned, and ever since then i've sort of had my heart set on a little girl from china.
BUT, now with angelina and brad, and meg ryan, and all these celebs making it "trendy" to adopt from china, the wait has gotten to be over 3 years now!! I'm not ready for kids quite yet, but i don't want to wait THAT long!
so.. i started looking into korea- they have a very good program, too- but over 85 % of the kids adopted are boys, so chances are, we would have a boy.
now i'm starting to come around to the idea of having a boy... just doesn't seem "right" to me, because i grew up with a sister, and 8 or my 10 cousins are girls, too! LOL i have no idea what to do with boys! and i'm worried i'll miss that mother/daughter bond that i have with my mom...
lol so... i haven't started the process yet or anything, but just wanted to get some input into what life with a boy is like

I always thought when I had kids I would have girls- well I'm having my 5th boy! My boys are amazing- the 2 older ones are BF and very close and my 4 year old loves the baby. Now I can't compare to girls because I don't have them but I can vouch for every Mom children are a blessing regardless of gender.

I understand where you're coming from. I felt the same way. I grew up with 3 sisters and was a very "girly girl." When I found out I was having a boy, I was initially scared. I thought " I don't know how to potty train a boy" and "What do I know about boy things?" However, in a matter of minutes, I stopped thinking this way. I was thrilled to have a baby. Now, when I look at DS, I couldn't imagine not having a boy. It's amazing being a mom and once you know you will become a mother, all you'll be able to think about is that sweet baby who you'll get to hold and love.

You have such a great attitude and adoption is such a great thing

I grew up with 3 brothers and have a boy- it's awesome!! Think sports, trucks, and non-stop energy! I think it's great, I couldn't imagine having a girl because I wouldn't know what to do with her Good luck with the adoption process and keep us posted! Hopefully you'll be able to have a little one in your arms sooner then later

I have a 10 month old and it is AMAZING!!!! I know I would be just as thrilled having a girl but my little boy just melts my heart. There's that saying "mommas boy" for a reason

I never in a million years would of thought I'd wind up with a little boy.

Now, I can't in a million years picture my life without him.

He is amazing. Fun. Energetic. Keeps me on my toes. And just manages to bring a smile to my face every single day.

OMG!! I love my son more than life itself, and the way a boy loves his mommy is like nothing else in the world. Now that we are adopting a second, I dont have a gender preference, but if you pinned me down I would probably choose another boy.

I thought I wanted to have a girl too. But the bond that I have with my son transcends anything I could have even imagined. The mother / son bond is so amazing. They are called mammas boys for a reason. Either way, being a mom is an amazing life changing experience. I hope you find what you want.

I was so scared when I found out I was having a boy. But once he got here he just melted my heart. I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is such a momma's boy. If he gets crabby and DH is having a hard time consoling him, I just walk over, pick him up and he will snuggle up to me and gets all calm and content.

DS seems to be very dominant with his left hand and I think he'll be a lefty. DH is ready to start playing catch with him so he'll be the next left handed picture for the Yankees or Giants. I told DH thats adorable but just think when DS goes to the world series and wins it for his team the camera is going to go on him and he's going to say "hi mom"

I went to BRU and got DS this adorable plain gray t-shirt and the other day he he wore the t-shirt and jeans. He looked like my DH's mini-me. Things like that just melt my heart.

I am a girly girl and I cannot even imagine having a girl. My son is the greatest. There is something about the way his father looks at him that gives me the chills.

I wanted a boy. I do want a girl eventually, but I wanted a little boy first. He is a mama's boy and he will be for the rest of his life!

I won't even read anyone elses response first!

I ALWAYS thought that I would have a family of girls.....just something in me always told me I would be the ribbons, pigtails teaparty kind of Mommy!

When I found out we were having a boy it took me only a few days to see how much fun a boy could be for ME!! I was never much into fishing, sports or anything boyish.....but a few years ago started riding motorcycles and that is so much more a "guy" thing to do........so I really warmed up to the idea of doing those types of things with my husband AND son!! I can't wait to introduce him to riding!!!!


I actually look forward to those typical "guy" things! Fishing (where they fish I watch!), Monster Truck shows, Drag Racing (which i have already gone to a bunch of times with DH!!!).

I look forward to the hugs & snuggles that I will get from my little boy because I am his Mommy!!

I also look forward to knowing that if he is half as good of a man as my DH, he will be AMAZING when he grows up! He is so serious sometimes & can all of a sudden be hysterical laughing!! He studies people & things like his Daddy & I love it!! A mini version of my DH is MUCH better then a mini versionof me!

Plus hopefully he won't be all grossed out by my work that I do too!!! A little girl likely would!

I am having SO much fun dressing him too!! this kid owns more blackthen any baby should! He came home in black Harley onsie! I LOVE dressing him like DH.....flannel shirt, black t shirt & jeans!

Boy or girl I think would not really matter though! You will make an amazing Mom.....adoption is such a special & selfless thing!

MY SON..MY SON!! That is what I say all the time, LOL! I feel so lucky to have been blessed with a son. I can't even explain the love and bond between a mother and her son. It's such a beautiful thing. I'm the first girl he loved and I will always be his first love

i'm a soon to be mom of 4 boys! i LOVE LOVE LOVE my boys. they are the best!

I hear ya!

I grew up with three sisters, and 10 out of 12 cousins were girls!

I thought I was going to have a girl, but I had a boy ten months ago. I was surprised a little, but it was perfect. I am MADLY in love with my little man. There is no describing it.

Of course, he's only tenmonths old, so I can't share tooo much about having a son.... but I think you will be great with a boy or a girl. I am sure you won't be able to help falling in love with him or her no matter what.

Boys just rock I have 5 nieces and only 1 nephew so I was kinda scared of boy things too, but now almost 5 months later I'm getting the hang of it!! He's a little lovebug and i hope when he's older he'll explain football to me
Also here's my tip, the peepee teepee is stupid don't buy one

I thought I would have only girls, imagine my surprise at having a boy.

But IMO boys are soooooooo awesome, they love their mommies sooooooo much! They are so loving, and they just NEED you, more so than girls (from seeing my friends girls) and I think that girls fight with you more, yes even toddlers.

Boys are yum.

After having all these girls I was so scared about having a boy. I just didnt know what I was going to do with him. I didnt think things could compare.....

I love my son more than anything.

I'm a true girly girl myself. I love pink, dolls, everything femine. So when our 20 week sono confirmed we were having a boy, I was a little bummed out. Now that my little man a little over 2 weeks old, I love having a boy. I came around and now I couldn't picture it any other way. A lot of girls say the bond between a mother & son is huge (my DH is a prime example of this). Boys can be loads of fun.

I would not give DS for any girl in the World. He is the love of my life. He will always be mama's little boy. In term of expressing feelings, boys give hugs too. They love their mom, they love playing with their dad.

The only thing that I "regret" is not buying little girl's clothes.
