Talk to me about renting a doppler
I am really thinking about this again. Talk to me about it's pros and cons. Is it safe? Do you always find the heartbeat?

Its safe and now that I know where they are I always find the HB's. With one baby it is probably even easier. I got mine from bellybeats.com. I have a referral code if you want to order from them plus a code for $5 off per month-will cost 45 a month

You are renting it right? Does that mean you return it when you are finished? How often do you use it? I will let you know if I want the code, still debating. Thanks!

Re: Talk to me about renting a doppler
i think its safe and i wanted to get one but the reason I didnt was bc I think I would go crazy if I couldnt find the heartbeat. The baby would most likely be fine, just in a position where you couldnt hear it and I would freak out.
I think I would just drive myself crazy with it

D, that's my fear. I also fear getting obsessed with it. If I got it, I plan to use it only once a week but fear I could become addicted. So that's my debate to be honest!

Re: Talk to me about renting a doppler
I dont think it is harmful, but I think it has the potential for driving someone crazy. If I had one I would over use it.
I am trying to be as cool as possible in this pregnancy. Given the fact that I had two losses last year, one would think that wouldnt be possible. But for the sake of my sanity and blood pressure, I felt it best to just chill out. A doppler would not allow me to do that.

I use it once in a while...I thought once I got it I would use it all the time but now that I feel my babies moving, it's much more reasuring. When I use it I find both twins right away.

Re: Talk to me about renting a doppler
I rented one from the same place bellybeats.com and loved it. I even taped it and listen to it every so often. It is amazing

Same here...my doc doesn't recommend it for this reason as well.

Thats funny becasue I also had losses and this has saved my sanity. It is easy to find the HB's once you know where the babies are situated. Before I had this I would freak out between sonograms. I listen to them every other day or so but I just got it so I'm sure that will wear off. I basically find their HB's listen for about 5 seconds and thats it. I love having it.

Re: Talk to me about renting a doppler
My sister had one b/c her DH was an EMT and had access to one before they were really made available to the public. It made her obsessive and crazy. We are so similiar. I couldnt do it to myself. For myself, I made the right decision. I am too prone to anxiety. She moves around enough for me to know she is ok.

once I can feel them move I will probably return it. My DH and I both felt peace of mind for $45 a month was a pretty good deal.

I rented one the last time I was pregnant and actually found my DD's heart was skipping beats. Turns out it's something very common and often corrects itself throughout the pregnancy. I wound up going to a specialist for a fetal echo to make sure it all was ok. For me it made me obsessive like Goldi said and my DH would not let me get one this time around. Good Luck with your decision

That's why I didn't order it. I get really nervous in between appointments, but I think it could cause more harm than good if I couldn't find the heartbeat one day. I feel a little more relaxed now that I just had another sono and now that I'm starting to feel flutters.
